Sorry everyone i had allot of computer problems but ill try to answer all of your questions from the previous post now....the motor has forged pistons and rods, port and polished head, cranecams (i believe cant find cam card), garbage headers, FMU, Eaton M34 supercharger (ported), 6 puck modular clutch from clutch house of fort lauderdale, florida, ported throttle body, and a few other mods that really didnt make that big of a difference...I purchased a afc since the last post and got the fuel spot on...i havent dynoed the car but it ran 13.7 @ 114 mph with serious traction problems at 7 psi of boost....the kit is a custom design by Thomas Knight turbos of Miami,FL and installed by Big Boost of Coral Springs, FL....and hears the kicker the whole thing installed and running only cost me $950 for the kit....if anyone is interested in this feel free to pm me or discuss here and ill tell you how to build the kits as well...i also offer tech support for people doing the install....i would recommend this to anyone that wants more power out of you 420a without anyone knowing because it is extremely quite and offers INSTANT boost unlike a turbo....try getting full boost at idle with a turbo ;-) oh by the way the reason my profile says NT w/ turbo is because my old car which is now my gfs car was a 420a talon that i installed a 18g turbo on....any question are welcomed

Yeah, pictures would be awesome...sounds like a great setup for the money.

Like above, Pictures and more detail would be great. I'd be interested in this.

I'm Interested in this too, may be in the market for a kit for my n/t soon.

How about a time slip and a video of the run? Talk is cheap...

Ill have pics by the end of next week....Im not currently selling the kits but ill inform anyone who wants to do it on how to...its VERY simple and goes together really easily..be that as it may its not the same as driving a turbo car...it has ALLOT of torque EVERYWHERE but usually will make about 20hp less than a turbo car...i beat turboed nonturbo eclipses on the same boost because of no lag and allot of torque but its definitely a sleeper mod as well

Basically the kit is as i explained a Eaton M34 supercharger off of a Pontiac Bonneville SSEi rebuilt and ported...then mounted to a three plate plenum that adapts to the 420a eclipse lower manifold....for fuel im currently running a FMU (basically was going for a cheap way to 250hp)...the supercharger is setup for 7psi and the car runs great...no overheating or high egts...any other questions feel free to ask

I wasnt trying to sell anything im just informing people on how to do this if they are interested....im not charging anything for the info...like i said pics will be up by the end of the week..the car is in for the interior right now so when i get it back ill take pics of everything to make the install easier to understand

well, can you give us more details(ie: all parts needed, stuff to look out for), if so, i'm sure i can get the supercharger from a boneville for very cheap if not free.

well you can page me at 9542732342 and we can discuss it in detail.... i first cut a notch in the back of our throttle body to allow the idle air motor to work..I then took a piece of 1/2 inch steel and drill a 52mm hole in it and positioned the throttle body so it was sitting at an angle (im taking pics next week at that time it'll be clearer...and as far as the intake...im assuming your asking how to attach the supercharger to the manifold...first remove the upper manifold....then take the gasket and make a templete on a piece of sheet metal...then trim the sheet metal so it matches the bottom of the supercharger....but only has holes in it for the manifold...then take a second sheet of metal and make a border around the outside of the supercharger and cut within a 1inch of the bolts all around leaving a hole in the middle...this will be your plenum....then take a third piece and cut it to the size of the bottom of the supercharger but only make the openings necessary for the supercharger....then line all three of the plates up and drill the bot holes for the supercharger all the way through...then after making gaskets for all three install the assembly onto the lower manifold...i would suggest using bolts, lock washers and allot of silicon in the holes because any vacumm leaks u have will be from the bolt holes....then install you throttle body and S-FMU...buy some BKR7E spark plugs...and reconnect your intake....a good idea would be to gut your cat if you still have it as well..Also remember to make sure u have the right pulley...you can use the water pump pulley from a ford probe welded to the outside of the supercharger pulley that should give you around 7 psi(unless you have a underdrive pulley)...u will also have to install a idler pulley on the upper alternator bracket so that u can install a belt the connects the supercharger, alternator and crank (I would suggest using a high quality belt)....then connect your brake booster, vacumm lines, etc (ill tell you where and how to do that)...then your done...test the boost by watching your boost gauge....rev the car to 2500 rpm slowly then momentarily floor it...you'll notice unlike a turbo by the time your foot is on the floor you at full boost (NO LAG!!!!!)...any other questions feel free to ask

Ok im in your area, Broward County i mean, and I dont quite beleive it without pics.....When can you have them up?

ill have them up by friday...I have a few people coming to see the car on thursday so if you wanna see it then we can setup a time

Yea, we need some Pics here, if this is indeed doable for that price i wouldnt mind trying it out myself...

Sure no problem i didnt believe i could do it either until i tried...next im going to put in my 2.2 block with forged pistons and rods and a 75shot...but im definitely going to work towards some pictures this week

Ok then. So if one were willing to partake in this adventure in the hardly known world of supercharging a 420a then what would one need? As in, could this be bolted up to a stock 420a or do you have to have internal work done? Will it be safe for the motor on a stock piston? Will it be safe stock at all? What are some mandatory things that need to be done in order to accomplish this? Turbocharging a car is so cliche and takes more tuning and seems to be more unreliable. I have always wanted to supercharge my car or even just attach a blower to it somehow to see if there were any gains just for the heck of it, but if this could be done for such a small price compared to others, then I am sure you my friend could be sitting on a gold mine.

^^
Well i believe superchargine and turbo have the same net effect = more power in the end, just the way they acomplish it is slightly different. However they both basicly force more pressure through the motor to achieve this goal....

So, i would assume what would be safe under a turbo pressure wise on stock internals would also be safe on a supercharger. Recomended on a turbo is about 7psi on stock, so i figure were ok in that department.

This is not going to be a bolt on job from ive heard so far though, a bit of custom work will be required to make it function properly, but the net effect may be worth it......IF he posts pictured then i will have ALOT more to say on the matter..............

Wasnt this locked by defiant? How is it unlocked now?

Im calling BS on this, we have been waiting far to long for pictures that should be easy to get.

Please lock this troll-bait thread.

Theres alot of info about supercharging a 420a, its not a new concept heres a
pic of a m62 eaton supercharger on a 420a. Problem is its belt driven and you lose 40% of its estimated potential right at start up.Playing with the pully ratio will help a little, but unlike a turbo( which you can really just swap out for a bigger one) you will max out on the possibiltys when/if the need for more hp arrises. But still a nice cheaper concept to mess around with.
and yea this is a THOMAS KNIGHT TURBO set up

Madhatter: First off that is the pic that is on www.boosthead.com, Mr. Knight's Web-Site.

Secondly, for a while I, myself thought of supercharging my 420a. After extensive conversations with Thomas Knight, and the only other 420a (sold the car, lived out in the West Coast of FL, near Tampa) I decided not to do it. I have those e-mails I sent to Thomas Knight and his responses; I also have the e-mail's that i sent to the guy out in Tampa.

If anyone wants me to put these up let me know. THe problem the guy had was he ate up belts like no tomorrow. He cracked a couple pistons and his intake manifold cracked 3 times. After bulding the hell out of the engine he did get a nice amount of whp, but he had no dyno to back it up. He also said that to install the supercharger was extremly difficult due to the lack of space. He said, and i quote, "I had to bang in the shock tower to make it fit."

Well until i get some pics I will be calling BS on this, not pics from his web-site, I mean real pic's that you've taken yourself. :dsm:
