suggest tire size?

I currenly have a 1999 gs 420a and since I have the oz rally edition, my current tires are 205/55r16. I am looking for a bigger tires to fill some of my wheelwell space. I have searched about tire size on here for a gs but I cant find anything about the oz edition sizes. My car is not lowered and I just want to fill my space a little. Would I go with something like 255/55?
Im sorry iv never bought new tires and am not very knowledgeable about them. Could someone throw me some tips?

The tire size is dictated by two things. The number, being 205/55/16. 205 is the width, 55 being height of the tire, and 16 meaning the diameter wheel it fits. Putting a wider tire on a skinny wheel isn't going to so anything but look stupid, you want to look at a "taller" tire.

Something like a 205/60 or 65. Keep in mind it will probably look like a monster truck.

255's would be huge and impossible.

I would suggest 225/55/16. BUT, it is going to look very funny. Your best choice is 17-18 inch rims n a drop.
