ok i just picked up a set of motegi ff7 rims. I believe they are 18x7.5 with a 45mm off set. I searched and couldnt find them in a different size. Right now they have 225/45z18 tires. they do not clear the arm. I do plan on dropping the car 2" down the road but right now its stock ride hight. What tires size would i need for proper clearance, that would also clear with a 2" drop?

I have the same rim company but mine is a 18/8+42 and my tire size is 225/40z/18r/19w and I've got a 2"drop I'm fine on clearance so you should he good you
go

Thanks. If i drop it with the tire size they have now would that allow more clearance? they were originaly on a gst that was droped and they cleared fine. I dont think a gsx should be much different.

The wheels I have are 18x7.5 on my GST with 225/40/18 tires and I have absolutely no clearance issues. I'm also on Tein lowering springs that drop the ride height 1.5in.

I would suggest getting 225/40/18 tires just to make sure you have all the clearance you need since your 225/45/18 will be taller than the 40's. And 18's might look a little funky with 45's :p just my opinion.

Im not sure if the previous owner ran spacers or not. The tires are bad anyways so I just wanted to make sure to get proper size once I go to buy a new set. Thanks for the help ill get a set of 225 40 18.

I don't know if it will give you more clearance. But I would use 40s instead of 45the because that
will help and maybe look into spacers but you more then likely won't need them

You should be good with the 40 series tire. Dont worry about a spacer. I have 225/55/16 on my gst but I have stock rims. I like a comfortable ride and a thicker tire gives you more cushion so its not so rough. Lol. I'm about to have my suspension completely redone. So may drop the coilovers down a little but not much. I like a little lowness but not a lot don't forget to get camber kits if you drop your car.

With 215 the tire would have to stretch a bit to fit a 7.5 wheel. With the 225 I'm running the side of the wheel and the side of the tire are perfectly lined up straight. I think the 225 fits the best on a 7.5 wheel.

Ok cool it was just a thought. ill ###### go with the 225. thanks for the help

Let me Guess they don't clear the arm in the back?

225/45/18 OD = 25.9"

225/40/18 OD = 25.1"

215/55/16 OD = 25.3" (stock)

All numbers from Manufacturer's specs
BFGoodrich g-Force Sport COMP-2

Second, 2ga knuckles are different from 2gb knuckles, and AWD is different from FWD.

So where is it rubbing? and what kind of car did it come off of?

chances are you'll need to run a spacer to clear the arm.

Yes they hit the arm in the back. They came off a 2ga gst. I have a 2ga gsx.

What size of spacer 1/4 or 1/2? I think 1/4 should be enough clearance

according to the link you gave 225 40 18 should fit. but what about my off set?

Unsure, about what size spacer?

Grab some SAE hard washers, Add washers till the current tire doesn't touch the arm, measure the stack. then convert to millimeters. Get on Amazon and look up Ichiba Wheel spacers, most of the time they're listed for 3000gt's. they are hubcentric, and come with new extended studs.

about 58 bucks for V1's 5mm-15mm

No-one makes a 5mm hubcentric spacer. If you're lucky, maybe the lip on your hub is tall enough and the wheel is an odd design with no taper to the centerbore, so you'd end up being hubcentric anyway, but the spacer, itself, will not have a built-in ring when it's only 5mm thick. The lip on the hub is at least that tall, making it impossible.

In a dream world, someone would make a hubcentric 5mm that matched our centerbore on the back (i.e., the hole in the spacer) and was hubcentric for a centerbore larger than ours on the front, but I have never seen these anywhere. They'd have to be custom one-offs. For example, a 5mm spacer that had a 67.1mm hole and a 73mm ring would rock, as that would allow you to put most Enkeis on a Mitsu. But, again, I've never seen such a wonderful thing.

2gb knuckles.

My black 97 AWD had these same wheels in 19x7.5 +45et when I bought it, PO was running 225/35/19. Those are 25.2" diameter and they cleared. If you had 2gb AWD rear knuckles, I would gaurantee these would fit fine with 225/40/18 which are 25.08" diameter. But I'm not certain how much of a difference there is in the 2Ga FWD rear knuckles compared to 2gb AWD. Either way, 225/40/18 is your best option.

Well i got a set ordered. and i have a 2ga awd. i get the tires next week so fingers crossed theu clear
