My stock turbo was trashed when I purchased the car. I dont have the money for a ton of upgrade parts. What turbo/ manifold combo can I run with the posibility of later making more power with the correct upgrades.
 
Thank you. I thought I expressed this in my first post but everyone jumped on the buy this turbo bandwagon. It's real easy for one of our cars to cost upwards of $1000 to fix something. I bought mine and didn't touch a thing except for maintenance. I spent $1000 between parts and labor and misc things to fix up my engine just to have the crank walk 6 months later. Now I've shelled out an additional $5k for a 6bolt. That's why I'm reticent to say spend your money on XXX when the answer is usually, spend your time researching a good mechanic if you aren't one and get your car up to par. Then worry about go fast.

The OP said his turbo was trashed. Sure, he can buy another 14b and then buy a better turbo after he is sure the car is okay, or he can go with a better turbo now and save the hassle of changing the turbo twice. I don't think it's as cut and dry as you're making it. But that's my opinion.

Yup... Why buy a 14B now and upgrade to a 16G in 6 months? It's waste of money. Get a 16G now and don't boost hard until you fix up you car. It's what I did / am doing. Good luck.
 
All the belts, "including timing", hoses, plugs,wires,oil change,compression test has been done.
 
If it was me I would go big or go home. The 16g is a great turbo but after owning one I would have spend my money different. On pump gas anything over 300whp becomes a battle. You could spend a little more and make awesome power on pump. SBR makes bolt of 50 trims and are cheap. PTE makes all type of bolt ons also for very cheap. Extremepsi.com is selling bullseye boltons for around $740(50trim, 57trim, 60-1).

I would go with a cheap gt manifold or ported 2g mani along with the line's and gastets for the turbo and you would be close to around $1000.

Small 16G. Great at low boost levels- doesn't spool much slower than a 14B, yet has tons of potential for modding down the road.
