Hey guys, thanks in advance!
So my t25 stock turbo (99 gst) Is pretty much done for.
I did some good research and know a turbo upgrade is not the first thing to do to your dsm. However, I found a really good deal on a mhi big 16g so I bought it.

My concern is my current car status:
99 gst 180k
Head is being rebuild by Shop (3g lifters, possibly 1mm over stainless steel valves, arp head studs, mls headgasket going in)
New timing belt & all components
1g BOV
Boost Solenoid Restrictor Removal
Rest is Stock

I just want to have peace of mind that I can install the Big 16g and keep stock boost on stock injectors, pump, intercooler, ect..

I want to do things right and care about reliability, I plan on taking care of my car good. What do you guys think? I will be on a tight budget after I get the car running again, but do plan on going for 275hp Daily Driver goal safely)
Will I be ok? or should I hold off the 16g and try and find a 14b until I'm ready to upgrade safely.

Car will be street driven around 30 miles per day. Not so much Wotting, maybe a little :)

You should be fine find a 14b or a 16g and run with it. get a 16g keep the boost low stock grab a wideband at least and go from there your set up will be fine for your goal.

I do have a 16g on the way already. It's a Big 16g though, It should still be ok for a while as long as I don't turn up past 12psi right? I do plan on upgrading slowly. Just till then, I didn't want to go through the hassle of finding a 14b when I already have a Big 16g and I only have to do the job once.
I am planning for the tech upgrade path in order.

You should be fine on low boost bro! I would say like 10-12psi should be safe, anymore and you could fuel cut or just be running to lean. It's really hard to say unless you get a way to tune or at the least a wideband, so you can see what's really going on! But you should be just fine!

Any guidance on a good wideband guys? If I am going to stat under 300 hp What would be the best budget tuning setup, I am hoping I can use stock ecu, I don't want to get too complicated, but I do want to be safe.. I have a lot to research until i feel more assured about it, but any tips or links on widebands, info, how-to and what not... Preferably with pics!!!! Thanks

I bought the innovate lc2 and it works great for me. I bought it from ebay around 150 shipped.

Ecmlink IMO is the way to go but really not budget friendly . Maybe look for a used setup?

Did you guys put the 02 sensor in a new location? or replace the with the stock O2 location before the Downpipe. Because If you have to tap into the downpipe, then I might as well get a downpipe with it and tap it before it goes in right?

On 2g dsm's some people have installed it in rear o2 location, preferably withdsmlink due to CEL code. You can install it on stock front o2 location as narrowband simulation if you are going with dsmlink.
Here is a how to from Ecmtuning lc1install [ECMTuning - wiki]
Also a few other http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/art...21002-innovate-lc-1-installation-options.html

Mine is in the rear o2 bung because I am not using the rear o2. But if you are using yours you could allways get another bung welded in the exhaust somewhere. In the directions for the wideband it will tell you how far away to mount the o2 from your turbo to prevent early sensor death.

Eventually i will go with dsmlink.
But it will be a while till then,
Today I ordered:
-a boost gauge,
-16g install kit
-Poly mounts (all 4 are shot and i have very easy access with the head off!

Next on list is wideband and catback (maybe turbo back)

Then dsmlink, 550s, fuel pump, fmic, im sure i'll need a better clutch by then.
Hopefully it all goes smooth... I know...
But, with all that i think i'll be golden to run300 hp reliably right?
Hopefully keep up with stock sti's and evos...

Maybe i'll try and do a write up for fun!
We'll see. Thanks for the help everyone!
