Haha, she was all excited about it even.:) She climbed in the trunk (its a spyder) on her back to remove the plastic anchors when we took the wing off last weekend, she likes doing stuff like that to cars just as much as I do.

As I look at the pics,I'm sorry.I'll go out and get better ones without tree shadows in a little bit.Thank you for the compliments,I can't wait to paint it.

just a quick question, where is the 3rd brake light on a spyder? is it on the wing, or is it somwhere else? running without one can get you a pretty hefty ticket.

anywys, i like it, nice and smoooooooth.

Um, there are LOTS of cars without a third brake light. Talon's with the thumbnail spoiler only have 2, left and right.

Removing a third brake light is not against any law... not sure where you heard that.

I would love to put this on my car, I have had my 1G repainted all black and the center section also.

That would look really coo..

all vehicles manufactured after 1988 were required to have them, and their owners are required to maintain that they stay in a working order. here in michigan it's right near the "rear obstruction of view" law. ricers with big wings get that ticket all the time, and it also applies if it obstructs the view of the 3rd brake light.

heck, it was even in sport compact car a while back when they did the issue on "legal" modifiations.

every last talon 1ga, 1gb, and 2g that i have ever seen have a 3rd brake light. i even work with a guy that has a 1995 talon with a higher stock spoiler on it, and there is a little upsidedown trapizoide (sp?) 3rd brake light in the middle.

Yep, 3rd brakelight is above the center, apparently it blends in better than I thought.;) It kinda looks like Talon Tails upside down with it in the trunk.

I'll get more pics from the side a few feet back tonight,I meant to do it last night but ran out of daylight.

Thursday I'm going to get some fine grit paper,a block, small orbital sander, and more primer then Friday I'm going to go get paint mixed, mask it off,and spray it.It may take me all weekend to get the finish I want but it will look good.I'll probably end up borrowing a buffer for the clear when I'm done.

I pulled that crappy looking 3rd light from inside the GS-T the first weekend after I bought the car Nov 97. I have never been pulled over for it or even had it mentioned by any cop ever.
Don't run a front plate either. Same results.
But that's Texas for ya!

BTW...shave job looks good, I want to shave my antenna and wiper/squirter also.

Jim

Thanks man,its really not as hard as I thought and the resulting smoothness is just awesome. When I sell this one in a year or so to get my 97-99 GSX,I'll do the same thing to that one that you want to do..get rid of the wiper and antenna.

I was under the impression the antenna hole HAD to be welded,I was wrong. We filled it with "Gorilla Snot" and saved a bit of welding and grinding.

Headed home in a few...I'll get better pics.

Wingless look is starting to grow on me,haha.

looks awsome, was thinking of doing that to my talon...
would it be a good idea to fill the hole with a weld or does it really matter there?

Its honestly better to weld in the antenna hole, but not necessary. What we used has strands of fiberglass in it and worked great. The other 14 holes are only a quarter inch at the widest so I'd say its a bit impractical to weld those, bondo worked just fine.

Heres a few more pics....

I woulda had it down in those pics but it no longer works as of about 4 days ago.It may just be something disconnected in that circuit when I removed the trunk panels....Hope so anyway.I'm gonna go put all those back in in a few and I'll see If I can get some with the top down as I've been wanting to see it like that too.

I have the sander, the flat block, the paint, the clear and everything else I need except the paint booth so I still have the primer on it at the moment.Hopefully weekend after next I can go borrow one for a couple hours.

wow that looks really good!!! makes me want to do that when i eventually paint my car..did you replace the antenna or just going without?
