Hey guys, im relatively new to the sight,

Ive got a 98 awd tsi talon
Its 6 bolt swapped

I recently picked it up about a week or so ago.

But just thursday on my way to work I pulled over and stopped the car. When i went to start it again, it was like the starter was binding up.

I took it off and had the starter checked today, it passed, but they said it may be failing when its under a load. So idk. But if I crank it over with a ratchet and unbind it, And then start the car it starts up.
Does it need shimed?

But my clutch pedal is also really weak. So i dont know if thats the master or slave cylinder?

Cause it has a brand new aluminum flywheel and clutch kit.

Can someone help me out so I can get her back on the road!!

Heres the story, I was driving to work that thursday and lost my dowb pipe off the car, it slid off to the side of the road and I couldnt stop because traffic was awful (on the highway)
Well the next day I drove it so I could stop and get my downpipe and put it either on or in the car. Well when I came up on it. I pulled over, and shut the car off ran back popped my t
Hatch with the key threw it in and went to get back in the car and start it and thats when everything went to hell.

Granted, this was the second time I did.

Like I said I got this car from a hillbilly in ky who really didnt know anything about it and rebuilt it(to his best ability).
When I got it home, the next day I took it to meet a buddy of mine to help him with his 85 crx. Well I did that, was there for a couple hours. Then left to go to my buddies house thats familiar with these cars to check it over.

Well when I pulled on to his street about 100 yards from his house I was unable to shift, the grinding happened and I was panicking.

We pushed it to his house. And thats when we discovered everything once we started digging into the car.
Coolant lines loose. Oil pan gasket.
Motor to transmission bolts loose and backing out.
Starter bolts loose
And where the maf sensor tube is, they hsf the lower radiator house on wrong so we re positioned it. Because while driving the hose would expand pushing against the tranny shift linkage and the maf tube causing it to not allow the car to shift.

So we re adjusted and tightened everything.. And it was good to go. Until the day I stopped to get my down tube, like a week later.. and this is where im at currently

Need a passanger side wheel bearing. Slave/master cylinder and starter

Ps. The car did absolutely fine from the lower kentucky/Tennessee line area all the way to an hour east of Cincinnati.

There is your problem, you were starting the car with the starter loose which chipped the teeth causing the grinding. If all that was coming loose whats to say the flywheel bolts and pressure plate bolts aren't coming loose as well?

You need to drop the TCASE to replace the oil pan gasket anyway, I say you take the extra steps to drop the trans as well and check everything over. It sounds to me like the previous owner hacked together a clutch job. Also replace the starter plate while you are there for piece of mind. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself ask your friend to help you. Otherwise, sell it as-is, and pass it on. I would help you or take it off your hands if I were closer.

Yeah I figured that was my issue wjth the starter being loose, ima replace it and put it back together and see how it does if there is still issues ill tear it apart when I do the oil pan gasket.

Also if your starter didn't disengage and was driven while engaged it will chew up the teeth.
