started up fresh rebuild, need help

I started my car for the first time tonight. It has a miss, not real bad, but bad, it also has an oil leak on the back side of the engine that sprayed oil all over the firewall. I didn't get a chance to crawl underneath and check it out because it started raining, but does anyone have any suggestions?

Drain the oil to see if you have any pieces of metal. Take a look underneath your car, put it on some safety stands. That is a start.
