BLT on fresh rebuild

This may be a dumb question but I don't know the answer.
I just got done rebuilding my engine and started her up and I know I hear a vacuum leak I just can't find it. I wanted to know if it's safe for me to do a blt on a brand new engine with no break in time and only ran for about 10mins.

You should not hurt an engine with a BLT even at 30psi + test pressure.

Worse thing is you may blow out the loose gasket, or coupler that is the issue of your vac leak.

Ive neverv done it on a 4g63 but ive done it on other fresh rebuilds without issue.

The cylinders see a f*ck ton more pressure during the first ignition than any boost leak test you'll need to throw at it.

Yup, absolutely impossible to hurt it. In fact, when my new motor is on the stand, ready to drop in with the intake manifold on and the TB elbow on, I do a BLT at the elbow before even dropping the motor in because its soooooo much easier to fix a leaking intake manifold gasket leak with the thing out of the car.

Thanks for all the replies! Yeah I did the leak test and fixed the problem. Much better. She drives smooth. I'll be updating my build thread soon.

That's great news! I swear, you can never do enough boost leak tests.
