So I just finished a fresh rebuild, dropped the engine in and fired her up for the first time. She runs like a champ. I have one of the lifters on its way out so there is defiantly lifter tick. However that is not the issue. When revving, the engine has a much faster tick, lower in sound, sounds like it is coming from deep within the head only at around 3k rpm. After that, the sound clears, all I hear is lifter click, and while idling, the sound isnt there either. Any ideas on this guys?

Notes - The two sensors on top of the intake manifold are throwing codes for a wire failure I believe. The harness is perfect however. I believe they are the MAP and something else.

This engine is a fresh rebuild, including new valve stem seals, valve seats, fresh 5 angle valve grind, new springs. Would this be caused by the machine shop not placing the shims back properly or in the original order?

Thanks for any help you can offer!:hellyeah::rolleyes:

i don't want to steer you in the wrong way but this happened with me and i thought it was lifter tick but after awhile the car started running like crap. timing was 2 teeth off and my pistons were coming up and slapping my valves across the face. you're sure the timing is spot on?
