freshly rebuilt engine just got the thing running after having to replace the ecu ....so it runs but not good and wants to die i'm guessing i have a boost leak or a vacuum leak i did the vacuum eliminate and it has a used front mount with some home made piping

here are my questions??

#1. the only vacuum lines i have go from my intake manifold to my FPR sensor and back to my FPR,
the other go's from my intake manifold to my BOV
and then my break booster

i have looked at threads and it says i need to run a line from my waist gate to my j-pip but this crappy ass piping does not have a place for a line so for my question ...what do i do with my waist gate can i just plug it or were do i run it to??

#2. i checked my timing and its dead on and i checked my CAS and i put it on according to were the washer marks were in the gunk ..... my question is could that be my problem and do i just turn it back and forth like a distributor??
'

oh and this is everything done to it as well
.040 over pistons
balance shaft eliminate
vacuum eliminate
new ecu
new mpi relay
FMIC with crappy home made piping its solid but crappyy

any other ideas let me know i am carless and need this thing running again call or txt me if you want i will check on here tho

Did you cap off the nipples on the intake where you took the vacuum lines off? You could be leaking there also try a Boost Leak Test. Also I just rebuilt my engine in my 1990 Tsi and it took like 10 starts and letting it run for a while for the ECU to learn how to idle correctly. Make sure your ignition timing is correct too. Hope that helps.

You can run the wastegate hose directly from the throttle body. Some people will say differently, but i am currently doing it and it works perfectly fine. As for running bad, do as other have said and run a boost leak test. Also check to make sure that your timing marks are correct.

im pretty sure i have everything plugged i just found a thing that says mfg
and has a vacuum line coming off of it thr other line coming off gos to my throttle cables im guessing thats somthing with cruise control but need to know if i need to put that line some were??

here is what its doing i start the car and pump on the gas but it wont go over 1.5k and if i dont pump the gas it will die some times when im doing this it will jump and rev up to about 3.5k and seems to want to keep going but i then shut off the key

were on the throttle body??

i just tried running the vacuum line from the p port on the intake manifold to the waist gate and still nothing??
when i eliminated all the lines i just plugged off my egr lines do i have to remove it and get this egr plate i keep reading about? i am so stumped i cant think what it could be all my piping is legit and good how do i do this boost leak thing??
from what i remember i put soapy water in a spray bottle and see were its sucking in?? but i cant get the car running long enough to do that

just noticed an oil leak comign from around my front casing could an oil presure problem be causing this?

So is the car not making boost or is it over boosting. Running the vacuum hose to different sources won't make it boost if it isn't. The job of the wastegate source line is to lower the boost not make it boost. A boost leak test involves making a tester than attaches to the turbo and pressurizing the piping with compressed air to find leaks.

Sounds like you have a few problems. One you need to check to see if you have a vac or boost leak. They sell testers from Extreme psi ect that hooks up to your turbo and u pressurize your system. Sounds like you have a few holes that you did not plug with your vac delete...

You need to make a nipple or get a different turbo outlet pipe because you need a better vac source then your T/B. same Thing for you Brian.

You also need to check mechanical timing as well as timing with a timing light. You need a. Manual for that if you don't know what your doing. Good luck buddy!

checked my timing its dead on.....im pretty sure i got all the vac lines plugged (4 on the T/B , 2 on the EGR, 4 on the FPR sensors, can any one think of any others??

and i can get the car to run but it runs like crap and wont idle and when it does idle it holds at 3 1/4 rmps

noticed on my vacuum delete paper that i printed off of a forum on DSM tuners that i run my waist gate line thru a MCB and (T) that line into my line that go's from my BOV to my intake manifold?? my car has no sensors anywhere near my waist gate from the way there diagram looks i know what the MCB looks like i have it on both my my 2g 's

any chance i bought a faulty ECU?? or an ecu out of the wrong year?? i seen on some threads that you can only use a 1990 ecu in a 90 and that all the others will work if you swap out a couple wires in your plugs ,,,i bought it off cl and the guy said it was a 90 tsi 5speed but when i compared them the were different but it fixed my spark problem
