That is rediculous, were they really trying to do what I think they were trying to do?

Do any of you guys have a way to help me with this problem?

I want to re-wire my cas for my 6 bolt swap but I dont know which plugs are for the cam and crank angle sensors, Is there any special writing on the plugs them selves to tell them apart? I dont want to wire my cas to my ac plug or anything like that ya know? I am not very familiar with 2g's. I bought the car without a block or head and I just put my 6 bolt in there.

The plugs for the cas and cam should be togeather. There will be a square one and triangle shaped one. Those are what you want sorry no pics my camera was stolen at the time.

Jim I already told ya you get first test ride stop whining and man up lets go :p

It wont be together on my car cause 97-99 have the cas sensor on the tranny side. My friend showed me the cam plug, I just dont which one goes the crank plug. We have different harnesses because of the difference in the cas.

Well one is triangle one is square I know that much :thumb:

Maybe Jim can take a pic of his for ya.

if i had some harness like the rre one, i wouldnt care but since I am cutting into the harness, i need to know which one is the crank angle plug and if there is any way to distinct the plugs, I know the ac plug is in that area too.

The ac plug is attached to the compressor.. There is a triangle shaped plug with 3 wires in it. The wire dissapears into the timing belt covers on the back side of the cover below the fuel rail, but above the compressor. That is the crank angle sensor.

The is actually 3 tringle plugs over there :). One to the AC (only one able to reach the compressor). One that goes to the coilpack. and another that goes to where the intake cam sproket is. The closet one to the TB is the coilpack one i belive. Also on RRE site they show you the color of the actual wire coming out of the plug. EX: my 97 had black, red, and blue coming out of the tringle one just like it showed.

I'm almost postive most of this info is correct but i still havn't fired my 6bolt up yet.

Well, I will mess around with it this weekend. Wish me luck that I dont wire my cas to my ac plug.

Can anyone get me pics?

It really isn't hard to find.. It comes out of the backside of the timing belt covers just below the cam gears, above the ac compressor...

I can't get pics because there is no motor in my car at the moment.

Well, I will take pix of my wire harness in the next couple of days. I would like someone to point out which plug is for the crank angle sensor.

Just do what i did. Plug all the connecters in and whatever 3 wired peice by the CAS is the one you need to tap into. For the plug by the cam sprocket. Its the 2nd one in the row of 3 starting from the TB. (Blue,Red,Black) Says it all on RRE. Even though my yellow and someother color were wrong.

I ran into a problem putting my belts on the other night.

I tried to put my 1g water pump and pulleys on with a 2g power steering pump and pulley. The belts are different. So can a 2g inner water pump pulley for the power steering pump fit on a 1g water pump? Also, can I keep my 1g outer water pump pulley to use with a 2g inner water pump pulley?

Also, I ran into the problem of my ACT 2600 hitting the inside of my tranny, so I had to grind some ribs of the bellhousing out so my motor could spin freely. I thought I either had bent valves or a bad tranny. I thought I would be out of a lot of money. It turns out that there are a lot of people with this problem. I fixed it now.

Anyone on here that knows the answer to this?

Sorry man not around much anymore with the car put away. Use which ever pulleys you need to make it work. I used my 2g pulleys to make it all serpentine not the V belt like the 1 g.

As for the clutch hitting new to me no problem there with mine.

Yea, I got it to where it will work, I just bought a 2g inner water pump pulley and it all bolted on. Tommorow I am going to put on all the belts and prime the new motor and turbo. Also, I only hear of 2g fwd's with the 6 bolt swap having that problem.

Oh cool well keep this thread updated its pretty helpful Im guessing for some guys.

besides body?

the 95-96 head has the CAS behind the cam gear instead of in the 1g location on the passenger side like the 97-99

I was just wondering, when complete is a 6 bolt swap in a 2g 'smog' legal? Furthermore would it pass the horrific Cali smog inspection? I know theres not much difference visual wise to the untrained person, but would smog catch it?

blah ive tried fro months now to fix my idle and cant fix it at all. I have absolutly no boost leaks me and a friend pressurized the system to 40 psi and no leaks. I just cant figure out my my car runs so dam rough at idle. Ive had enough of the thing so its going to extreme motorsports. Any of u know any thing special i should get them to look at or tell them.

Thanks
Dan

I have been having since the weather warmed up a studder from 4000-500 rpm I think its either the need for an AFPR which I have on order or the timing advance I'm getting.

I may need to get DSMLink in the near future. I have the pot mod done which has stopped my random misfire problem all together.

OK well after lots of screwing around and trying stuff I have fixed my car thought an update is in order.

To try and fix my studdering problem I have tried the following

New Plugs
New Plug Wires
Tuning
AFPR thought it was rich

After all that I tried the coils and low and behold that's what it was. I have a 2G mind you but the 1G coils also fit. So I called around and found a brand new set at the dealershop 250 canadian and 250 canadian for the transistor I thoguht it was one of the two. Any ways said F that and called the wreckers. First placed I called a bud of mine had a set from a 90 Turbo AWD so I said what the hell and got em figuring I could mcgiver them to work or something. Well I just took all the old wiring off the and bolted my 2g harness onto the coils and my problem is now solved.

So if anyone is having a misfire or backfire missing etc from 3.5k to about 5k it could be your coils. Also if you have a 1G or 2G looks like either coils will fit but keep in mind its not a bolt on I did have to modify the coil bracket because the 1G coil is a little larger.
