squeking noise during cold start up.....

when i first start up my car, usually the first time of the day...or after its been sitting for awhile...when i put it into gear to go there is a squeking noise that is coming from behind the dashboard...at least it sounds like its coming from directly from behind it...it will continue to do this while its in gear unless i put it in neutral...after awhile after it warms up it stops....does anyone know what wrong...i cant figure it out..thanks

Likely a loose or worn belt. Check for "glazing" on the contact surfaces.

Most likely its an accessory belt, like the alternator belt. I had that problem, and it was a worn belt...I fixed it and it stopped.
