Well, at the beggining of august I got a clutchjob done on my car by a local shop. Ever since the clutch job was done Ive been eharing this little noise comming from the tranmssion side which is the throw out bearing. They told me it should be fine, if not bring it in. Well, middle of last week I noticed that there is a squeaky sound everytime I press my clutch pedal in. I called the shop and dude told me that its the tob and it should be fine for some time but I should have it checked out (something along those lines, not exact words). Well, Since like the morning of saturday Ive been having some problem gettin my car into gear, I thought I was shifting it wrong, but when I got home today at liek 3am I was on a redlight, and the thing just refused to go into 1st witht he clutch pedal presed down. I had to force it in. I thought maybe it was the master cylinder, I check the fluid level, its all fine. Could this definately be a tob defecting? Or clutch slave cylinder? I think with these symptoms it might be the tob, But I need other insights. Thanks for response

I just got done putting in a new clutch, throw out bearing and pressure plate, and when I was done, I had the same problem with my 90 Lase RS. So I replaced:

Master cylinder
slave cylinder

Started it up, Same problem, noise and couldn't get it in gear. Turns out the clutch fork and pivot ball were worn, and with the new clutch it wouldn't disengage. Good news is that by adding 2 washers behind the pivot ball, problem was solved. bad news, you have to pull the trans to do it. It wasn't that bad though, took me about eight hours, and I am very slow, and took about 100 breaks... hope this helps.

They should have replaced the TOB with the new clutch. Ask them why they didnt. Almost every new clutch kit comes with a new TOB and it takes 5 seconds to put one on. I would bi*** at them for not putting a new one in and demand they do it for free. What kind of auto repair shop is this? jeez.

if you provide a shop with the parts and don't provide them with a tob then chances are they won't put one in ... ;)

tob seems very likely though considering your symptoms.

brand new mitsu tob was provided, I provided a act flywheel and the tob, they provided the act clutch kit and labor.
