so over the past month my lifter tick has been getting louder and louder, but when i get full oil pressure it always goes away, but now its realy loud and when i rev it makes a weird noise. not quite like a spun bearing but im not sure. any input would be amazing.

Well, it's difficult to say if it's a spun bearing by the description. A spun bearing will have a whistling-sort of sound along with the hesitation-type sound. If it's excessive clicking sound then it could be excessively worn piston rings and the slapping that occurs from it.

Do you have any oil loss or shavings in your oil pan? What does your compression look like? How is your timing/when was your belt last changed?

To tell you the truth, there is FAR too many variables to pinpoint the problem. Hopefully there isn't a problem with your cam gears being offset and that noise is your valves smacking the heads.

i have a video of it let me try to post it on youtube.

i have perfect oil pressure, compression, i havnt pulled the pan but on my last oil change it looked fine. i even cut open the oil filter. here are some pics of the bottom end before i installedit in my car.

One way to check for a spun rod bearing with motor running at idle pull 1 spark plug wire and see if the sound changes, continue for all spark plug wires, if the sound changes it is most likely a bearing.

I already did that and nothing happened. That is making me think balanceshaft bearing it is the only bearings i didnt cheak before i put the motor in my car a year ago.

Balance shaft would be twice engine RPM. So if it is a fast and seams to dbl in frequency when you rev the motor look towards BS

finally got the video on youtube.

PLEASE HELP i want to drive my car.

definately lifter tick unless there is a lower pitched kind of knocking that i couldnt pick out in the video then i wouldnt worry about. Drive your car and dont sweat it very reliable motors:rocks: by the way how many is on the clock?

+ 1 on the lifters.
I think it sounds great! There is a bit of a rumble and whirr that might be from a new timing belt. They seem to be a bit stiff at the first install. When was the last time you changed it? It could also be on the other end a jumped tooth like I said before.

\Also check your exhaust manifold and manifold gasket. See if there are any studs that have been stripped allowing a bit of exhaust through. If there is a little leakage between the head and manifold it will give a bit of extra sound that seems like it's coming from the engine itself.

Oh, btw nice work on that bottom end! :thumb: Very clean!

If you replace the lifters and are still concerned with noise and vibrations, you might want to consider a fluid harmonic balancer. They've been known to eliminate a lot of vibrations across the frequency board, including those that would not be found in a stock configuration.

i got a new timing belt put on dec. 06 and i have only put about 2400 miles on the car since then. i have been doing body work and painting my car so it has sat most of the time.

I will check for exhaust leaks.

i guess i will never fully trust my car untill i rebuild it myself.

LOL Yeah, sometimes on these older cars, there's no telling how many hands have been on them since the original build. Our cars could be dirty whores with some disease lurking beneath and we'll never know until we take 'em apart and inspect every bolt.

I'm still finding the wrong-sized body clips when I do some of the moulding work.

when i bought the motor it only had 32,000 on it, got out of a front clip of an evo3 for $1600, the car got T-boned. befor instaling it, a whole new timeing set was installed along with ALL noew gaskets for the whole motor.

sounds like lifter tick, what oil are you running and brand just curious.. my buddy ran some cheap oil and had lifter tick then switched to castrol and it went away...
