Hey guys ive been haveing this weird knocking/clacking noise coming from my 7 bolt motor. I was thinking it was the lifters but then i just changed all the lifters out with the 3g type and motors still making the noise. I tried the knock method of removing 1 spark plug wire at a time on each cylinder while motors running and i got no differences at all. The motors been makin this noise for a while now and hasnt really got any worse or better just been the same.

Heres a video tell me what you guys think.

this what my tech told me ..... First stop driving it cause the more you do you will get crankwalk then you have to buy a new motor good lucky

1. Piston
2. Rods + bearing kit
3. main bearing kit
4. engine machine work = 1000 in parts/shop
5. labor 600

thats costing me 1600 plus with labor cost too.

Since I'am doing that, also going to do my head to get is re-new at the engine machine shop ... my tech told me its better to go in once not twice cause its a pain ...... if you like to then do it but just saying...

First, your "tech" doesn't know DSMs if he's throwing crankwalk around like that.
Second, you can buy a longblock for less than that.

Now then, if you've got a knocking rod you need to pull the crank and rods and have them inspected. If the crank doesn't need to be cut you can keep it. If it does need to be cut, most DSMers toss it and get a clean one. You'll need at the very least to replace the rod that let go, and that bearing. May as well just do the whole thing once though.

Ya, it happen to my car yesterday .. i'm kinda upset .. i wanted to get a motorcycle but i guess not now .... but Thanks man ... i'm going to fix it once just add more like my DSMLINK after i re-new the all block....

you can also recon a rod and run an undersize bearing...

Drop a 6bolt in. I have seen 6 bolts crank walk but not nearly as much as I have seen 7bolts walk. Either way sux to happen bro.

Personally if i had to throw that kind of money out on an engine, i would just get a stage 2 short block from DSM graveyard with little extra money.

Matt98eclipse,

Can you post an update?
I would be interested in knowing what which path you chose in solving your knocking problem.
Why? Because there seem to be others, like me, that have the same condition and might be looking for some idea on options for repair.

Thanks
