Soooo, you all know i have my 97 Cayenne GST,
Well, this kid and his dad offered to sell me their 95 auto talon tsi AWD for $1200

The car has 109k miles on it, and COMPLETELY stock, even the stock air box.

The car from what i can see what maintained decently..

I went over to check the car out and i heard a tick, i believe its the lifters but i never heard a lifter tick because i always replace my lifters with 3g lifters the day i get the car pretty much along with a timing job and all that jazz.

Well; it was 29 degrees outside here in pittsburgh and it was the first start of the day, the car started ticking bad right off the bat, but as the motor got heated up, the ticking got less severe, and this video I'm posting is of the motor ticking at almost operating temp.

Let me know what you think. Also i will be saying my 1999 oldsmobile alero DD for this car. (selling the alero for 950$)

I've had rod knock on a few motors and this when you rev up to 2.5k and let go of the throttle, doesn't make a "RAPPPPP" noise. if you know what i mean.. And on load and not on load, it makes the same tick..

The only reason I'm considering buying this and DDing it is because my alero doesn't seem to strong lately, and i know how to work on dsms and this one is COMPLETELY stock which i love about it.

That is defiantly lifter tick. I am a little jealous also you found that deal right here in Pittsburgh and I didn't.

Lifter tick is very common, every dsm ive owned has had it. The oil passage on top of the lifter is too small. After the oil heats up it passes through easier. Thats why the tick lessens, or even goesaway after Iit gets to running temp. I dont recommend it, but ive seen some guys drill out their stocks for a cheap fix.
