I just installed a big 16g. I have a stage 3 dsm chip and had the stock boost guage converted to read knock. I know its not very accurate but it has be worried. When im barely on the trottle its showing me that Im getting alot of knock. I can also hear my lifters ticking really loud. Could the lifters ticking make it read knock? btw, I ordered 3g lifters and should have them tomm

It does it cold and warm. Its just really got me worried seeing all that knock...

yea, im getting a logger soon. Hopefully its just the lifters making it read knock. And im not sure how many counts im getting, but it sometimes goes to about 3/4 of the guage. I just saw knock when I was barely on the trottle and cruising so I was worried.

What's "not accurate"? If your knock gauge says knock, the ECU does think there's knock.

Lifter tick most definitely makes the ECU think KNOCK.

okk, so when I put the 3g lifters in hopefully it goes away.

yea, ill update everyone once I get them in. Will be sometime this week, not sure what day yet.

The ticking you hear is normal of these cars during start up untill they warm up and the oil pressure lubes the lifters up. Afterwards it should go away.

well my lifters even tick when its fully warmed up and just cruising at 3000rpm.

Probably a sign of worn lifters. I think people mentioned getting 3G to solve this problem....I am not sure.

i have this same problem with my lifters they tick when its cold out but when it warms up the ticking goes away then about every other second the ticking will start up again and get louder and louder then it will go away for a quick second then start up again. i have no clue how to fix this i just hate hearing my car tick. i heard that changing to new lifters you will still get the problem because these 4G63's are notorious for lifter tick. but i heard something about switching them with 3g lifters? can anyone help me or tell me how to fix the prob.
