Hey whats up, well guess something went bad to your car on saturday afternoon because I didn't see you out there on Sunday @ Willow Springs. I was there on Saturday till 12:30 had to take care of personal things. I saw you racing about 9nish when I got their, then I wen't to talk to you at your garage but no-one was their. I was hopping to talk to you on Sunday but I figured somthing went bad and had to leave. Sunday was pretty bad for a bunch of cars, I saw atleast 6 cars losing control and a truck had to get them out of the track. Well Greg till next time and keep up the good work. Hope the problem you had wasn't too major.

Sorry I missed you Saturday. Yeah we had some major problems during the afternoon race. I'll explain it all in my commentary...

Everybody usually comes to our garage to take pictures and ask what kind of car it is? I always say it's a 4 banger turbo charged DSM the just blew you V8 piece of shhhh-t out of the water!

Then it’s Talladega, a long 150 mph left handed sweeper that separates the men from the boys.

Can you really get your car up to that speed in Talladega, especially coming from Magic Mt? My Formula Atlantic holds the SCCA qualifying record for course #13 at a 1:37.7, but the car was hitting just 139 mph going into Talladega. We have a lot of downforce, but only about 250 hp, so maybe that's it.

BTW, the only place I noticed excessive time with your hand off the wheel was at Star MAzda. Do you have a shift light on that big tach? If so, try keeping both hands on the wheel until it comes on.

That's great to have a fellow road racer here. Are you still running with SCCA? And excellent lap time by btw, open wheel correct?
When you're drafting those 800hp Pro-trucks Talladega can get even faster. One of my buddies said he laughed with the excessive one handed driving. He said next thing I'll be doing is talking on a cell phone or lighting up a cigarette. That video has made me real aware of some bad driving habits and I'm working on them...

I still do some racing with SCCA, but my main focus is on Champcar's Toyota-Atlantic series, where I am team engineer for Ishikawa Racing. If you (or other readers) are up in the Bay Area for the San Jose Grand Prix in two weeks, stop by the Atlantic paddock and say hi!

I have seen other courses where Atlantic top speeds were much lower than high powered sedans, yet we ran much quicker lap times. One is Mid-Ohio, where in 2003 practice my son at a 1:17 in my car with a top radar speed of 140. The GT-1's (comparable to NASA's Super-Unlimiteds) best times were 1:25's, yet they posted radar traps in the high 150's.

BTW, my '93 Talon TSi has begun it's own transformation into a track car. I just finished adding an LSD while rebuilding my trans, have bought new big brakes and other goodies while getting a race prepped 6-bolt ready to install. Lots of work left to do, but maybe I'll see you at BW in the spring. I am a NASA member, and may make it a point to link up with you, though I assure you that I'll be much slower than you.

How cool is that! NASA (USTCC) is running with Champcar at San Jose for the first time that weekend. I've got a couple of buddies that with be racing (small world). They're pretty excited because of the SPEED television coverage.
BTW we're probably the same age but I've got 50lbs. and 8 inches on you being 6'-6", not the best size to be racing... especially hp to wt. ratio.
