2G Speedometer not working. Possible causes?

Speedometer is not working. At one point the speedometer needle would bounce up and down occasionally but now it’s not doing anything. What problems could cause this and where should I look for issues? Thanks.
 
Check the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) and look at the output on the transmission where you would normally see a speedometer cable. I believe that 2g's are electric not manual speedo's.
 
Yes, 2G's use a sender on the trans and several computers on the car use the signal. The ECU usually provides the pull up for the sensor but some of the others might as well which can cause issues if one of more have a problem.
