Hey guys, today I instaled new NGK plugs but those are colder then the once that factory recomend. Is that going to be a problem or would that couse any problems.I think that my engine kinda idles more ruff then it used to be with the original plugs!Plz tell me what u think.

yeah, i would say you need to stick with the stock heat range, although im not sure if thats the cause of your problem.

Are you talking about using the NGK BPR7ES, instead of the BPR6ES? The 7's are one range colder than stock, and YES, it is a good thing to go from the 6's to the 7's.

uh, its not a good thing no matter what i dont think, i was under the impression you only go colder if your making like 100+more HP then stock or raise the compression or boost to alot, or something like that, if it was better for the stock car then im sure they would use colder then NGK6 spark plugs out of the factory.

Oh, I just noticed you are non-turbo. You definately do not want to use a colder range of spark plug unless you are maybe having detonation issues. I read on mach v, you want 1 range colder than stock when you are running 18+ psi of boost.

um i dont realy know much about the plugs themselves. What is a gap and how do i check that and how should it looks like?

youll need a spark plug gap checker thingy, you can get them at autoparts stores. Couldnt cost more then a buck or two.

is that the technical name? spark plug gap checker thingy? anyways i found out in anothere post taht the gap for out car is supposed to be .44, the actual piece that checks the gam is like alittle coin at your auto store.

Hey guys on the same topic...
I am running the 7's right now and I run 20+ boost but I usually only hit that on the highway. I do ALOT of city driving barley going over 15 or more boost.
Do you think I should stick with the 7's or go back to the 6's??

The general rule of thumb is up to 17psi, run the 6s. Higher than that, run 7s. The best answer is to look at your own plugs. If the porcelain and electrode are baked white, you are running too hot, and should switch to the colder plugs. If the spark plug is collecting carbon (black), it's too cold to clean itself, and you should probably switch to the stock plug. Based on your description, you should probably run BPR7ES plugs.

Remember that all of this is going to be fouled because you are n/t. If you are turbo your gap should be between .028 to .032. Since you are n/t I would think that the 6's would be better for you since it is a hotter plug.

yea i just ordered the 6's with the ngk wires shold be ariving in 10 days. thanx for the info
