SOLID front/rear aluminum motor mounts!

The mod is awesome. Can't deny that. But it's not for everyone. If you get solid mounts you really only need the front solid mount. You will have less problems and still get the performance.

The most "comfortable" set up is going to be a solid front mount and every other mount stock. I almost went with a solid front engine mount and everything else prothane. In the end I figured the vibrations wouldn't be that much more with both solid front and a rear mounts so why not get both. It just makes the engine that much more solid and the results that much better. Plus I'm FWD so every little bit will help.

Are these still being made?

Look back a page :ohdamn:. Biglady isn't making them anymore as he's too busy. PM badas93tsi he's the only one making them now that I know of. But wait till next week when I get mine back so you don't slow mine down LOL. It takes a couple weeks to complete them though, so you need to send some spares if your car is your daily driver.

I haven't posted on here for a while but I got one of the original sets a while ago and I still love them. They're awesome.

With anyone who has these do you guys get like a rattle or a tapping sound during deceleration? Just wondering. Thats the only noise that came about when I first installed these mounts and after a year or so its still there. Just wondering if it could be a loose heat shield or what.

Hey guys, just thought I would post some pics of the mounts "badas93tsi" made for me seeing how he is one of the few that makes them now. The quality seems just as good as the "biglady" mounts and they are made from the same grade of aluminum. Please excuse the slight rust I didn't get a chance to paint the outside yet.

The sleeve on the rear mount need to be welded to the mount. The insert could wiggle one way or the other now with that sleeve. Welding it obviosly keeps in in place.

And here I was, just about to order the full Prothane kit. It seems I've got a change in plans ... a full solid mount set instead.

You guys should look into the DIY solid motor mount projects. I did it to my motor mounts and yea i have to admit it does vibrate a good amount but the stiffness of the engine is awesome. :hellyeah:

I heard that if you just do the two sides and front instead of all 4 motor mounts your interior won't shake that much since all the other mounts aren't near the dash. idk how true that is but it sounds logical. Any input?

Its not that its if you do the transmission mount that makes the car vibrate! I did all 4 and it was when I took the transmission mount OFF it didn't vibrate anymore! So you can do front / rear / timing and its will be fine, so solid won't make much more if any atall vibrations!

Have you guys tried PMing badas93tsi?

Of course they haven't that means more work to do! Ha ha its got to be on a platter for them LOL

I am not sure if I have said it in here or not, but I am no longer making these. I still have a big passion for making things and playing with these cars, but I just don't have the time or desire to coordinate this stuff anymore. I try to limit the projects I take on and we race just a handful of cars now and that is my focus.

Sorry for the folks who may be interested or find this and like the idea. I am sure any metal fab shop can handle these without issue. They are not complicated at all. I ended up doing 20 sets or so myself after the first few runs. But I just want to work on my own stuff now when work allows.

I fealt I needed to update this as people constantly are contacting me about these still today.

Sheesh, if I knew these would be such a big deal I would have kept my biglady112 mounts before selling my Talon.

I made a few set of alum inserts for AWD 1Gs and have the prints to make 2Gs just have not got around to making them yet

I attached a few pics of the 1G inserts I made

I have friends at a machine shop with a Cnc lathe and cnc mill. Let me know if you want me to reach out to them

Don't want to thread jack, but these exist (for a 2g at least). In stock all day, every day.

My bad. I thought this thread was referring to aluminum subframe bushings.
