it was fairly windy outside and around 80 degrees. First pass I did nothing to my previous settings and I trapped 108.5 with hardly any knock and 17 degrees of timing from 6k to 6.5k and then 18.1 the rest of the way till I shifted @around 7.3k. After looking at the log, I saw I was way RICH 10.2:1 AF from 5k on up. I decided I would go ahead and lean the car out some since I was so rich and leave the timing alone. I didn't touch the boost either (19psi on 93 Octane). BTW, I'm a sucky driver on a stock clutch and I always bog 1st gear. Anyhow, next run I went 13.9@110. This time, AF was 10.6 to 10.7, but the car was pulling 2.5 degrees of timing or so...around 1.8 deg from 6k up until 6.5 where it pulled 2.5 degrees up until I shifted at 7500 or so. So basically I got less timing, but because I was leaner (even though I was still pigrich) I picked up 1.5mph. Gotta love 2.61 60ft's :D Anyhow, doesn't seem to matter what I do, on pumpgas, my car wants to knock if I even hint at leaning it out. The last run, I left the settings alone, but it got abit warmer outside and it pulled even more timing this time( 4 degrees) and I trapped just 109. If I could just get it to around 11.4 AF without the knock and the same timing as my first pass, I think I could easily get another 2 or 3 mph out of it. I know I could always put in racegas, but what fun is that :) My car really comes to life in the last 1.8th mile. I picked up 24.5 mph. So anyone got any idea's on why my car likes to be so rich? I would like to trap around 115 on pump, but I know I will probably have to turn up the boost 19psi. I might try turning up the boost next time to around 22 and see what happens
Thanks for reading,

After thinking about it some, I think I am going to try the following next time out. I was advancing timing basically 1 degree at 5 and 5.5k, 2 degrees at 6 and 6.5k and 3 degrees at 7 and 7.5k. I am going to back off the timing so that its only +1 from 5k up with the fuel settings that netted the 110 trap. Then if the knock is gone, I'm going to lean it out some more to get a more desireable AF of 11.4:1 or so. What do you think? Only thing that I'm not sure about is now I won't be getting very good advance in 2nd gear (previously I was getting 19 degrees) since I wasn't knocking in 2nd gear. The knock period doesn't really seem to start until 6k in 3rd gear.

Learn how to drive :thumb: heh just kidding

Congrats on the times. I'm suprised the stock clutch is holding up to all that power...any indication that it's starting to slip?

Yeah, I have the bad driver Mod :D Being as I'm FWD, i'm not expecting to light the world on fire with my ET's....i'm more concerned about the mph. The clutch has held up pretty well, but after 3 passes, the pedal was starting to feel alot softer. I don't think its slipping yet, but if I keep going to the track this summer, I forsee a new clutch coming also heh.

Let's see, where to start:

First of all, you're knocking where you are set now. That's slowing you down, and needs to be dealt with. Now, how you deal with it is the real question.

I don't know exactly what your setup is, so I don't feel confident giving you lots of advice. However, here are some things to try:

First of all, you can just richen it up. You're not really running that rich now, but you're not really that lean either, so you don't have a lot of room to play with fuel in my opinion. If you're looking to go really fast on pump gas, you may end up richer than you expected, see what happens.

Second of all, you may want to consider taking out some timing, so that you can add boost. The extra airflow may make more power, even with some timing removed.

That's what I was thinking also. I am going to take out some timing and see if I'm still knocking. I was flowing peak around 39-40lbs/min.
Thanks,
