as the title says my car smokes a little after it idles for a while, i thought it was the PCV valve but after i replaced that it started smoking more and sooner. it's a light white smoke out of the tail pipe. after having my dad look at it he said the closest thing he could compare it too was when he was in the nave and the ships motors were running lean.

Smokes from what, or where, how much, how long. Could be burning oil off manifold or grease etc, or coolant.

The smoke is coming out of the exhaust. How much depends on how long it sits. As for how long it smokes, right as I take off for about a mile.

If it's a puffy type of exhaust smoke and a bit bluish color...

I call it valve seals - combustion chamber fills with unburnt oil from leaky guides and fuel at idle can't burn all of that oil off, yet when the fuel is increased, the "fire" in the bore is suddenly increased and hot enough to burn off the excess .... and the plugs aren't fouled or sooty .. and you can be noticed for a few blocks from where you left.

Your probably gonna come out with a bad turbo. My car does the same thing. Had a good turbo on my car wrecked it pulled the engine and installed in my current dd. In the wrecked my compressor housing got cracked so I was forced to use the turbo of the engine i pulled out which had killer play but I had no option. Thought I was still good at first went down the road and came back and after it sat for about five min it started smoking and still does but only at idle. When I start driving it goes away but let it sit for five min and it starts smoking again. My engine is new with about 2000 miles on it so I know thats not the problem. Also check your intercooler pipes, starter with the lower pipe coming off the turbo since its the closest. If the turbo is leaking you will usually have oil residue in the pipes.

It's not bluish at all, it's whitish-greyish. I'm going to check my turbo sometime soon.

Checked the turbo yesterday and it had absolutely no play at all in it, thing was solid as a rock. So I'm going to guess valve seals?
