When I'm driving, I can smell gas while I'm driving... Which is faint, but it's still there. When I turn my car off and I walk to the back towards the trunk, I can smell it more. There are no visible leaks, but I have noticed a decrease in fuel mileage. What could be the problem(s)? I have read the other threads concerning this, but they weren't very helpful (there are no leaks... very very clean).

i had the same problem... turned out to be my egr unit (evaporated gas recurculation unit, i think) its in the engine bay on the passenger side of the car between the battery and the intake manifold. it has a wire plugged into it with 2 little rubber hoses going to and from it. if you trace those hoses, you might find one of them is dry rotted. also look at your fuel return lines coming off your fuel pressure regulator, see if one of these lines are leaking. good luck, happy hunting, and let me know what you find out :thumb:

If your injector were not replaced recently or at least had new seals and o-rings put on they could cause a leak. The rubber seals eventually turn to hard plastic and crack, then they start to leak. I would check those, along with the things mentioned above.

Ok thanks for the advise. I also heard that my o2 sensor may be going out as well and to check the volts and if it's slowly moving in voltage or hardley moving at all, to replace it. When the o2 sensor is properly functioning, the volts are very rapid. And when the o2 sensor is going bad, the ecu is increasing the gas amount that is entered through, so it can emit fumes through the exhaust pipe (which is what I'm smelling as well). Is that all true?

also pull the vac house to the fuel pressure regulator... if there is gas in the vac hose you may have a hole in the FPR diaphram thats dumping raw fuel ito the intake.

I had this issue as well, turned out to be the fuel pump feed line connector under the back seat...no leaks were visible, because it would drip right onto the fuel pump cover and sit there....

Nice try but that's Exhaust Gas Recirculation

EVAP is a different system that deals with routing fuel vapor from the tank to the intake manifold instead of venting the tank.
