Mods: be curtious enough to move this thread if you will if its not in the right location, as im not exactly sure where to post it.
Okay!
I have a small 16g that i was lucky enough to find on my 91' TSI automatic.
(i think the pervious owner was not aware of this turbo's size in just got it off a junked dsm to swap turbos for the probbaly blown 13g or whatever happind im not sure)
problem with the auto TSi is that it was still stock to accomidate the 13g (390's ect.)
leaving the 16g useless since its much larger than the 13g.
I was wondering if this setup would be an option for my N/A 90'GS.
(Im aware of the skill level needed for this swap in im quite sure i would be able to accomplish it)
but im not sure if i would be ok with running the small 16g with 450's on a 14b ECU with out an af controller.
I have:
small 16g
full 4g63 turbo block & head (automatic if that matters)
14b mani
14b o2
stock intercooler
i/c piping
390 injectors off the auto
turbo fuel pump
MAS
fried auto/turbo ECU
all wiring harness'
2100lb clutch
To perform this task i know i will have to get a new ECU and i think 450's, or would this not be enough to suport the 16g ?
reason why i like the idea of turbo swaping a N/A 5sp is because of the the higher gear ratio found in the N/A transmission vs. the turbo trany with the smaller ratio. (i like the fact that when racing i can keep it at a higher rpm and accelerate quicker than with the turbo trany)
what i will be doing (so far as i know of, if this is right)
rebuilding the turbo moter
16g
450's
90' 5sp turbo ECU <- already found with 450's for $120
swap fuel pump
all turbo wiring harness'
MBC
boost gauge
Just wondering if im going in the right direction with this or if im totaly lost in dont know what im talking about.
Questions & coments are what im looking for here so please let me know what you think!
thanks in advance!
(sry about the spelling, spell check button seems to be not working)
