Maxing out a small 16g?

Problem is you should be running 43.5 psi base fuel pressure, to get the 550cc of flow you paid for ;)

Yes running 550's (as measured from the manufactor at 43.5 psi) at 38 psi equates to a flow 514 cc or 7% less flow

I'd up that base fuel pressure to the 43.5.

I'm confused. Since he has a 1G shouldn't he stick to the factory recommend base fuel pressure of 37 psi? Or do the flow rates of all aftermarket injectors correspond to a standard fuel pressure?

I have a 2g with a small 2g intake mani and 2g head and squeezed 39.5lbs/min out of a b16g at 23psi. Injectors were maxed during spoolup on pumpgas and still in the 90% area with racegas and leaner AFR's. Just got 650's or bigger. As someone stated before, most all injectors companies rate their injectors with a base pressure of 43.5psi. All 1g owners HAVE to consider that when choosing an injectors.

Small 16g, 15psi, Denso 660's with stock FPR 84.0%IDC, 2nd gear, 34.5lbs/min. 6932rpm. 1950.8hz Mafraw from my 2g maf. DSMLink readings.

I still have a lot of room to play with this turbo. Not sure if thats the exact log, but i went 12.9@ 105 that same day, same 15psi and tune. I should do pretty well when i try to max out the small 16g before upgrading!

I never knew that, thanks for clarifying that for me.:thumb:

Does this then imply that most forced induction cars use this same base pressure? Don't mean to thread jack, just curious since this has been brought up.:)

As far as I know though, yes, all cars are calculated at 43.5 PSI as its the industry standard. Doesn't mean someone can do different though. You can use it as a "rule of thumb" safely.

I actually plan on buying HUGE injectors and running them with low base pressure. I'll use DSMlink to compensate for the loss in pressure but will help with getting the maximum power out of a single in tank pump.

I dont think the stock pump can flow enough even at low pressure. Plus, it would be more expensive to pick up an AFPR with gauge and trying to get the most out of a stock pump than purchasing any whinebro.

You mean walbro. You *may* overrun w/ a walbro 190 litre per hour pump. And if you rewire a 190 or run a 255 or 255hp you'll have to get an AFPR for the overrun anyway. But regardless, you can't get but so much out of a stocker. Just know that you're looking at lileky needing an AFPR anyway.

But lowering the fuel pressure and letting ver large injectors pick up the slack w/ higher dutycycle is a good trick to gettign the most out of these pumps.

Just to clarify i believe automatics like mine have higher fuel pressure settings than a 5 speed. 5 speed is 37 and i think a auto is 41-45 . I have a walboro 255 and a areomotive afpr. so im going to set my base pressure to 43.5 like suggested with the line unhooked.

I wouldn't feel comfortable w/ 550s and any turbo upgrade. 550s at 80% idc and stock automatic fuel pressure is about enough flow for 325hp at a conservative 10.5:1 tune. A small 16g can easily do much more w/ the stock long block and intake.
