has anyone had any experiences with a small 16g turbo? i was reading that it will just bolt on to a 2g without any adapters or anything. Just wondering if its a good way to go.

A small 16g is a very good and effecient turbo. You will need, however, a 2g install kit (SS braided oil feed, J-pipe, and new gaskets).

Next time use the search button though. This has been answered countless times.

Just dyno'd my small 16g at 290 whp - was hoping for more. Maybe once I get DSM link.

I've been running it for two years no, it was my first turbo upgrade and I kinda wish I had gotten the Evo III 16g instead.

The small 16G is about max a 300hp turbo, I had one. It spools quick and is a tad better than the 14b. I ran a 14.5 on my FWD w/ a S16G on huge boost leaks at 12psi, so its a decent turbo. However, for the price dif, get a Evo III 16G

We run one. Its a stock motor 2G. Turbo was a new one that was given to me. I just let him have it. It was suppose to go on his integra. Sold the manifold, intercooler, lines and car when he bought the GSX.

We went to the dyno last week with the new front mount setup. Made 288awhp 315tq @21psi on pump gas. A few passes were 340whp and 360tq. This was with a pinch in the boost controller line. Made 27psi on those passes. Just couldn't get the knock manageable for daily driving so fixed the problem and turned it down. He went on to run his first 12 second pass with the car a few days later. On pump gas I might add. I have to also say it was at 5800ft elevation.

Great turbo in my opinion, very linear, almost supercharger like. Does a damn fine job. I say go for the Evo III as well. I have another 2G friend with one and that car runs well. It is just limited now by the side mount.

The above 288whp car is powered by dsmlink. Great turbo. We have made some believers out of it. Of course it will be powered by a SCM6176 in the near future. The P trim SCM.

I have one on my car with pretty much stock if i could just get some leaks fixed and get it spooling sooner id be happy ha ha. Pulls real strong though and holds till redline.

I've had both the small 16g and the evo16g.

Small 16g is a great turbo. Great spool and super durable. Mine survived two engine rebuilds w/out blinking an eye. When I sold it two years later, there still wasn't any shaft play. I ran the turbo at about 20-21psi for most its life as well. Good power all around.

Evo16g is a great turbo as well. The topend compared to the small 16g is much better. It's amazing how much better it really is. However, its only better because it can hold more boost to redline. For example, my s16g only held about 20psi to redline. The e16g has held 25 psi to redline and probably may have more in it. The problem w/ the evo is boost creep. When I switched from the s16g to the evo16g I couldn't run less than 24psi. W/ the s16g I could run as low as 19psi.

Overall, the e16g and s16g are very similar in performance as long as the boost is kept below 20-21psi. Above 21 psi the e16g starts to shine over the s16g. My recommedation is a s16g for people who want good power w/out much hassle, and a e16g for people who want the most out of a 16g style turbo and won't mind removing the turbo a few times to eliminate the boost creep.

Is picken's problem with the EVOIII boost creeping a typical problem or is it specific to his car only? I am curious because I want to put an EVOIII 16g+EVOIII manifold in my car but it's stock for the most part. I don't want my turbo creeping on stock parts just yet.

I like it but you will want more. Alot of people with this turbo get rid of it way before they reach its potential. Like someone says "good 300hp turbo" If you do the math im just over 400hp on race gas with it. (after correction factor for the dyno)

Anyway i have put up the ET and MPH that is listed with the small 16g, and it has more in it. I went back after i fixed a few problems and ran a 12.28@108mph, yes 108mph. I was running WAY to much boost (30psi in 3rd and 4th) but only 26psi in 2nd when i was checking, hence the lower mph compaired to my ~113.

Anyway you will not be disiapointed and it is a very forgiving turbo and a great way to learn about your car and still make it pretty damn quick.
