After winning IFO in Tucson and Vegas, it was time to road trip up to the Pacific Northwest to face some SERIOUS competition!! And I have to say, there are a lot of great people in the scene up there. It was nice meeting you all! Racing alongside English Racing and Speed Factory cars was like a dream come true for me. Huge thanks to Mike at Sinister Speed for the 8" billet torque converter!

The first race was in Woodburn on May 26th.
Qualified #4 with a 10.57@132
2 wins (one against a 550hp GTR!), but red lit in the semi-finals by .056 :ohdamn:

The second race was in Kent, WA at Pacific Raceways on June 2nd.
Qualified #4 again with 10.32@132 (1.497 60ft)
2 wins, then I was up against John in his red 1g auto Talon...

He got me with the 60ft! His 1.467 to my 1.606. On that pass I did spray a 35 shot of nitrous. Would have gone bigger but only had small pills.

The car is on the same setup as in Vegas, though I did up the boost to 34psi dropping to 28 by 8k:

Video of 10.42 no nitrous pass in Washington (didn't get video of the 10.32). Timeslips below :D

It was a great road trip! REALLY hoping to hit 9's later this year! I think it would be the record for an FP3052 turbo.

Timeslips :rocks:

Great runs and it's pretty awesome watching 2 auto 1g's going heads up down the track. Thanks and best of luck for your 9sec goal.

The black auto CB helped build did 9.7 on the same turbo I believe.
Deric Dupey (ddupey), who you're referring to, did his 9.7@138 with a 3076HTA in the FP housing, so basically a 3052 with the billet wheel. A lot of Deric's pass was in the 1.39 60' he cut though 138mph in an auto is still cookin' pretty good.

Great passes! If I lived in the PNW still you'd have met and raced against me as well. Yet another small turbo automatic going rounds! Nice to see people traveling for good racing. Now just make the big trip to the Shootout next month and add yet another street automatic in the DSE class, pending you don't use the nitrous, of course! :p

I wasn't sure, but appreciate the information. How fast did the tpg car go with the 3052 on it?

Curt didn't help build Deric's car. He ported the head. The shortblock was machined locally by Lavish Performance and assembled to Buschur specs.

And the car cut a 1.37 60 ft on that pass. No nitrous. The Sinister 9" level 1 gets to 3800 2-step in about 5 seconds. The converter will go over 4000. Deric builds boost as he creeps into the beams. The car prob has a 9.4-9.5 in it with more boost. He was running 35-36 psi on that run. Robert said the 3076 could run 40-44 psi, but would probably need the Tial housing to maximize the turbo. So on went a Buschur tubular manifold and Tial housing for this year. Brakeman brakes also made their way onto the car as well. The car has had a breakup gremlin on the few passes its had this year.

Racing is on hold for now. Baby girl just arrived yesterday! :applause:

BTW, congrats to the OP for putting it down with a small turbo! What cams are you running? And do you need the nitrous to get on the converter? What is it capable of stalling to? What are you launching at?

Congrats on the new addition to the family!!

I am running BC 280 cams. I don't NEED nitrous to get on the converter, but the DA and cam timing has a lot to do with it. In Washington it was easy to stall up without nitrous. In Tucson (elevation ~3100ft) on a hot day it's not as easy, so I spray to keep trans temps down. There is still room for improvement on my tune also.

With the vacuum pump on I can hold the brakes with the 2-step at 4200rpm and 12-15psi. I'll bet there is another 200+ rpms left in the stall at least.

It seems like you have the best combo for the auto as a whole. the trap is good already and yet you still have room to go.

Good luck.

Keep up the good work man! DSE class should be very interesting this year. I believe the compound guys are making progress as too.

We hope to get a little more aggressive with Deric's car soon. Probably going to play with launch rpm to get the 60 fts back down. The vacuum pump and brakeman brakes can probably take another 400-600 rpm over last year. The car lost a tenth and a half in 60's between the Tial housing and retune. Gonna get back into cam timing as soon as the car gets a clean pass or two. So that should make a difference as well.

Can't wait to get back to Norwalk, as DA is usually 700-800 ft LESS than Pittsburgh Raceway Park where we've been going. Not a huge difference, but every little bit helps when you're turning rounds in DSE eliminations :hellyeah:
