Good luck and I can't wait to see the car at the Shootout with you getting to drive it. Good jorb!
Needs more HTA though!

Always was curious what HTA stands for.
alright. Was thinking maybe
guess that wouldnt work since it's the compressor thats the HTA
Hot Tits n Ass...... j/k
It really doesn't stand for anything just a designation for our billet wheeled turbos and to poke but at people who like to use buzz words.

Thanks Matt! Feel free to come over and say hi. The car will obviously be on display at Buschur's on Saturday.
But yeah, I look forward to seeing the car and meeting you.
Haha oops! Yeah, Friday at Buschur's and track Saturday and Sunday. I don't know if I could be more excited! My car may be a little rough on the outside but it goes like hell!On Saturday??? You mean Friday, right? The hang out and dyno at Buschur's is on Friday, not Saturday. Everyone will be at the track on Saturday and Sunday. But yeah, I look forward to seeing the car and meeting you.

Hey Sonyslave, does anyone have a torque converter out there that is just more effiecient, but has the same powerband characteristics? From what I hear stock 1g converters are pretty bad up top, around 18% loss. From what I gathered from my logs as far as engine speed versus car speed versus ratio, 18% does seem pretty accruate.
The C-Dub guys in Kentucky have shown seriously good results from the Bradco converters they used compared to the re-stalled 1G converters they used before that. Couldn't give you exact numbers but it was significant. You aren't going to find a better converter for a DSM than a Precision but unless you have a 2G or run a 2G tranny in your 1G (or find an impossible-to-find old school 1G billet PI converter like I did) you're pretty much limited to Sinister Speed or Bradco for billet converters or re-stalls from other companies like Hughes or IPT.
I'd say you really just have to try a couple out and see what happens. Bradcos are expensive but seem to be the new hotness. I've heard good and bad about Sinister. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

I'll know next weekend what RPM I'm going through the traps at. I'm just a curious as you are. I've had some unfortunate bad luck with ballooning a stock converter a few years ago that wiped out the mains in my brand new built 2.0L in less than 50 miles, then last season I had an oil pump failure at the 1000' mark and again, wiped out my main bearings and crank. So I haven't been thinking about things like this as much. I plan on collecting a lot of that data at the Shootout. Precision will still service my 1G converter since it still exists and I may get the converter tightened up a bit depending on the data. We'll see. When you calculate the stock converter efficiency on small to moderate turbos it's usually around 6.5 to 7% efficient up top. The problem has always been the spool up from the stock converter, not the efficiency which is why Precision and Sinister Speed get a lot of mention on the boards. I went through this years ago going from stock to stock restall, then to the Sinister 10" and now their new 8" Core 2. Once you use websites like TCI etc you can go nuts with figuring out all this stuff, but it will show you what's really going on. This is why I was curious about what SonySlave is seeing rpm wise through the traps, it's fun to just plug in the numbers and see what other converters are doing.
The efficiency loss you're seeing at 18% is the converter with the auto transmission also eating up power, not just the stock converter.
If you're curious about efficiency's the Sinister Speed website has a DSM data page that shows what their DSM's are seeing at the track, real data, not my cousins friends neighbor stuff. Their converters are now all in the 6% range which was why I bit the bullet and got another one. Oh well 4th converters a charm.
Not many with the Precision 1G, I used to look for them used all the time.
Yep that's me! Glad to see someone got some video from the Shootout! I broke too early in the weekend so a lot of people never even saw the car on the track. Thanks for the video!
Best of luck with the car my friend!
Congrats on 9's!! I wish I had the 2.2L! Does it use a 4g63 block? Or 4g64?
