GSXeclipsePSI i dont mean to be a prick but you need to grow some nads and get your head back. Thay are walking all over you and thats not right. If you cant get it back throw the one thay gave you in there window it should even up what thay did to you. This is why i do my own work and have a good relationship with my machinest .

Calling the BBB wont do anything. I had gotten my car robbed in NJ. The shop tired everything to not replace my parts stolen. They gave me false dates of pickup(illegal), never gave me a broken down bill(illegal) tired charging me storage fee's when car wasn't complete(illegal) broke off my rear windshield wiper (wasn't allowed by police to make a police report). With all that, I got the commissioner of the NJ DMV on the phone and all he was able to do was have storage fee's removed due to not telling me the car wasn't complete on pickup. I followed through with a letter to DMV to have his shop license revoked, I filed with BBB and they said they can't do nothing (I have that it writing). I called the BBB and did a report on them. The most the BBB can do in this case and post a report on there web page about the shop or shops giving them a BAD rep with the BBB. If they shop isn't part of the BBB list of GOOD BUSINESS SHOPS they really don't do anything OR at least in my cases.

2nd off, I have tired with them. I'm not gonna keep trying, the machine shop is an hour away, I took it there cause they were recommended by my friends father that owns a shop here in FL. The guy is stubborn, I pick and choose my fights. I took the head from him and brought it home, I don't think there is more I can do now.

This is what happens when your a 24 year old walking into a place that has no respect for young people having knowledge in something the shops been doing for 35yrs.

Unless I have printed paperwork proof when I went there, he was able to talk his way out of every point I brought up about the head nothing looking to be the same.

And for someone who said its not clean. RIGHT this is a USED head he gave me back since they have MONEY invested in my head. I asked him to remove the valves they replaced and I would pay for HOT TANK and resurface but that was it. He said NO.

My head was there, right next to the one I picked up. It was brand new looking but not in my price range. I have a local that would have hot tanked and resurfaced for $75 and I was gonna prep it. I am putting the valves and stuff in myself. So yea $300 to me is too much. I'm looking at under $200. I still have a bottom end that needs pistons etc.

Burn down his shop, and tell him your paying with a hammer:cool:

I understand what your talking about when you say " I pick my battles" but really if you want to get it back contact a lawyer and have him write a letter to the shop stating that you will be filing a civil law suit if the part is not returned to you OR you can do the other and go back down there ask him for the part one more time and if he gives you the "NO" answer again stand right there in front of the man and call the cops , in a court of law its call "theft by deseption"

I don't mean to attack you, but you may want to proof read your own post before commenting on the spelling and grammar of others.

I have taken many parts to many different machine shops over the years and this has never happend to me. You better believe that I would be calling that shop and going by day in and day out until I got MY parts back. I don't care if it was an hour or 10 hours away.

Seriously, if you go to McDonald's and order quater-pounder and they give you a fish-filet, are you just going to eat the fish sandwich and forget it? Same thing applies here. You are in the right. Stop letting that shop make you feel like your powerless. Go there and tell them you want your head back and if they don't give it back, call the cops and the BBB.

You're analogy works except for one thing...McDonalds wont give you your money back. They consider all sales as final so even if you give them money and it turns out they don't have any chicken nuggets you don't get your money back. You can order something else but you wont get your money. That is a bit off topic but I thought I would share since that happened to some lady a bit ago and she called 911 three times. She didn't end up getting her chicken nuggets.

What! don't let the pimple-head at ytour micky-D's push you around. 1/4 lbers are really like 3/16lbers and they cost 20cents to make. I've always gotten my order right after confronting any one at mcdonalds. If something was wrong, I've even gotten my refund and kept the food. Point? A curt, non-aggresive word goes a long way with everything. Especially in the op's case.

+1. I've always had the same experience. "The customer is always right". That's how they train you at McDonald's.

IF that head is off the hyundai its out of a 92-96 elantra i believe. The engine is actually a 1.8, called the 4g67. The head is a nut hair smaller then the 4g63.

I would tell that if there work is worth $350 on my head. then you can keep the head and you can pay me $450 for all of it. Sounds like a deal to me.

No matter what I need to know if the cam ID marks A and C mean in whatever brand head it is..

I get 252/252 on the Mitsubishi lookup

252* duration at .004" lift. 264s have 264 at .004" lift; 272s have 272 duration; most of the time. . . . Crower says the the stock duration at .05" lift (industry standard) is 190/181. HKS 272s are 213/213, FP2s are 212/212, Crower 64413s are 211/212.

An "A" on the back of the intake cam is a non-turbo cam; they have the same duration as the manual turbo cams of the same year, but have 5* more advance. The other cam is a turbo 1993-1994 manual trans exhaust cam or a turbo 1995-1999 exhaust cam. The lift of the 1993-1994 cam at the lobe will be higher.

You know, the channels of the BBB may be different than in Jersey. This is really true if you were in north Jersey. They just don't care as much... I would do something, this is like dropping off your car to get washed and they give you someone elses car. You wouldn't take that crap there, and you shouldn't when it comes to your property that is left in someone elses hands as either. You guys like McDonalds, well if they gave you a burger when you ordered fries, are you just gonna walk off? I bet you go get the right food. It would be trivial though, and could fit in the "I pick my battles" category. This food only costs a dollar, but you will be paying more than that for the new head you are gonna have to buy.

That guy stole yo shizz, you better do something. It appears they sold/fubar'd your old head and gave you one that lifted off the block it came from. It sure looks like its been over heated to me. You got worse problems with that head then "will it fit my block". Even if you had the block it came from, I would say good luck with that garbage.

Not trying to discourage you, but you need to do something. This is not to be ignored, we are telling you this now for a reason. You will find out the hard way if you continue, that I can be sure of man.

There isn't anything I can do now. The time limit is passed and I took his offer at the time they are jerks and will play hardball if I do the same. They been in business for years and know how to rip people off and get anyway with it.

So they put 2 different cams in the head? So does that make sense? Can I use these? I need more advice on what I should do to fix my problem other then take it too the shop.

And what makes it possible that the head lifted off the block?

I would NOT use the cams or the head. I am guessing that they may have just put whatever happened to be laying on the floor and would fit. Could be cams from any variant of 4g63, and from two different motors even. It stinks man, but you need to get the proper head and cams for your car. I don't see how this would work out well for you at all. There is too much guessing going on, and the bottom line is that you were given a head that was not what you handed them in the first place. I think it lifted because of the presence of rust in certain places, but today as I look and see that there are rust spots on the top of valves....that thing looks like it sat outside! Its also looking a bit yellow inside the top of the head where the cams live, indicating high temps. Usually that means its a bit warped, or has been before. Not something I would be willing to put on my car.

thanks for the info.. I might just dump the head.. I'm looking into getting the cams the where posted on here that are $200 if you send the old ones that gives me a good start. And I can find another head for $100 and that's what new valves was gonna cost me.

Well I got to learn how to port and polish on this head so maybe I got something out of it anyways.

Quick question... I need to repair my injector plugs. Where do i get new ends to plug into my injectors cause this whole problem stems from the shorted out injector on cyl.1

Some Hyundais did come with a 4g63. I imagine that is what that head came off of. The major difference IIRC is the exhaust cam and the cam timing.

Could you tell me which hyundai USDM came with a 4g63? The one i had had a 4g67 which looks exactly like the 4g63 except it was a 1.8 DOHC.

Sorry to hear that you are goin through all this. First off bbb won't do anything except leave bad rep points towards that business. The more aggressive you are towards them on getting your old head back is the best bet. I own a business I know this from first hand experiance. Last that head you have is off a late 90's hyundai. It's the engine code is a G4CP. I have one sitting right here in my shop that I plan on using on my 1g n/a project. It is a 6-bolt block with a 2G style head. They claim the same 135 hp as the 1G n/a engine. I got mine out of a 98 sonota. From what I'm reading here it looks as if I'm goin to get all my gains out of this engine as it sits and will probably lose a Lil bit of performance if I switch to a 1G head for N/A. What about boosted performance?? Any confirmed power loss or gains when mated up to a 6-bolt block?

These heads. . . Are they like the g4cn heads or 4g67 heads, that have 43cc chambers instead of 47cc chambers? The small chambers also have a more shrowded valves especially the valves on the timing belt side; I'm not sure how much the higher compression would benefit a turbocharged motor that likes more flow over more compression.

I don't know about the heads, because i always use either a 1g, or 2g mitsu head. But, whenever i use a 2g head i use a manifold off of a hyuandai i found laying on the ground of the junkyard one day. It has the smaller 2g runners, a 60mm throttle body inlet, and a plenum volume at least as big as a 1g mani, with shorter runners.
