How much is the plunger supposed to move when you pull the pin out

using a drill bit to measure, it sould stick out of the body 3.8 to 4.5 millimeters.

I personally get the timing belt pretty damn tight by prying up carefully on the hydraulic tensioner body and using the correct tool to rotate the idler pulley to remove all slack in the belt. So the plunger should barely move when the pin is pulled leaving room for belt stretching
