seeking advice on selling Talon Tsi

Dear DSMers,
I need advice on selling my 1994 Eagle Talon. Im the second owner and I've had it for 6 years, put a lot of sweat into it and had a lot of fun driving it. However, time has come to let my sweetheart go. I will post her on my local Craiglist in the Maryland/DC area but I need advice on what I should ask for. Here are the particulars:

Eagle Talon Tsi, 5 speed, AWD, 194,000 miles
New parts and work in the last 6 years :
-Jacks transmissions Stage 1.1 AWD transmission and clutch professionally installed by Chrysler Dealership (3/2011) has approximately 20,000 miles since installation (original transmission, which would not go into 1st , included with car)
-Left front half shaft replaced due to boots being torn
-Turbo rebuilt
-Left and right ball joint arms (front) replaced
-Rear wheel bearings replaced
-new radiator and hoses
-new alternator
- new battery
-new brake calipers all wheels
-New rotors front wheels
-Spark plugs
-new Idle stepper motor
-new Throttle position sensor
-new Oxygen sensor
-new Exhaust from manifold back- however muffler now rusted again
-Timing belt and water pump (2015) professional installation


Remaining issues
developed Idle surge when cold, runs smooth when warm
Brake lines will need replacement
Needs new tires
Rust spot developing on right front fender (will need fender replaced)
Passenger side dash cover delaminating
Head liner sagging

I was thinking that she may be worth $2500. I would appreciate if you would let me know if that is way off. Thanks.

I think for 2000-2500 someone could have a nice first car/project. Does it have any driveability issues/run and shift smooth? Aside from the idle surge.

seems decent..why are you getting rid of it? also, I'm going to assume it's stock motor with the 7 bolt?

Thanks for the replies and the advice, I really appreciate it. To address the drivability issues: the tires are shot....the steel belts slipped on right front and it shakes at 60 mph; a new set of tires would do wonders. The brake lines are shot too.... I spliced in couple sections under the car but Im not confident about the remaining sections. Replacing the lines from the proportioning valve to the calipers will be a priority. The idle surge is annoying but once it is warmed up it runs fine. I spent an inordinate amount of time chasing down the cause (including a boost leak down test) based on the advice on this web site but with limited success. She has the original motor although it was rebuilt at 100K due to a timing belt failure.

Why is it time to sell her... it's a long story. I saved her from the crusher 7 years ago when a relative (the first owner) was going to part ways with her. I put a new trans in to make her driveable and she has been my daily driver. I did all the work listed above to keep her going and I have to say I did learn a lot about cars through her. However, being 60 years old it is getting harder to crawl under the car so I think someone younger and equally enthusiastic should take over her care. Its not about money; its about transferring the care to someone else.

Even with those little issue honestly I don't think you should have a problem getting 2500. That's just my opinion. Someone will come along that's been looking for one and they'll pay it.

It's worth whatever someone will pay for it. $2500 sounds like a good starting point and you can go from there. I paid $2k for my 93 talon tsi a year ago and have put lots of maintenance into it but would still post it up for $2500-$2800 and go from there. Lowballers are everywhere so keep on the lookout and GLWS!

Around my area you'd probably get about $1500 for her after some haggling. Still list at $2500 though. I let my old Tsi go for $900 even though I easily could've got more. I sold her to someone who was willing to put the time and money into her and do what I never got a chance to, plus he's local and there's no talons around here.
So list it for $2500 but only sell it to whomever you think will do ho treat her best, even if you take a loss . I ts all about keeping the dsm alive and well and sending her to a good home

The body looks real nice and it has a very nice transmission. I'd start at $3500 and go from there.

1g are getting very tough to find. A clean body alone should get 2k if you can hold out. I think you're in the right price range, good luck!

^^ Body isn't clean. if rust is starting at the fenders that means the vent holes in the rear quarters are next and those are a nightmare if you don't catch it in time. I think he's about on the mark. If he was closer I'd be in for around the 2k mark all day long.

That's very clean for a 20+ year old dsm IMO but I'm from the top of the rust belt. 1g's are not easy to find in any shape. Too bad you weren't closer to me as well, I don't think it'll be hard to sell

Lol Did you see where I'm from? a breeze could hit my blazer and rust starts falling out of it. All of the DSMs that WERE driven in the winter up where you and i are from don't exist anymore they rotted into nothingness. But fenders aren't terrible. If you know the rust though then you know that the stuff you can't see if 5x worse then anything you can.

No sorry I didn't see where you were from, still learning this site. But I'm with you on rust my gst inside rear wheel is getting bad but when I took the side skirts off I lost my breath so I bought a clean tsi awd. Strange thing is my shock towers are still new looking when every northern dsm I see has rust on them.
