Call around to local dealerships, even ones that are out of town/state if you must. Or just call down to San Diegos Ball Mitsubishi dealership and talk to parts. You give them the serial number on the radio, they give you the code...

Could anybody get me the code for this? Id appreciate it. I looked though all the papers that were with the car and didnt find the code.

i recentley had some engine work done and the battery was disconneected for a while. now that i have my car back its asking for a code to use my stereo. is there any other way to get it working again without taking it to some dealership??

I just called the closest one to me in case I'd have to drop by, so just try one. Shouldn't matter which one it's bought at, I think they have batches with the same code; they just check it on their computer. Mine was originally bought in the US, and I got the code in Canada :p . If it helps any, I called the parts department and they got it for me in 5 min.

Lucky you.

I have to pay $20 by phone before they can give me the code.

For them to look up a number? Youtch! Well maybe I got lucky, they'd always display my car a bit before giving it back to me when I had work done there, maybe I got the friendly freebie.

Try Andy Malik Mitsubishi at (865)981-4400. They gave me mine w/no questions asked. I just called and gave them the SN. However, if they do give you problems, just get back to me and I'll take care of it ;)

is this a universal number i mean i live in Texas can i still call for help i have a separate problem i cant get my center counsel out

Just grab the center plate from the top (where the AC and Heater controls are), and pull it out, It will come off from the top, In my car is a little hard, and some times It feels like is going to break, But, it has only safety pins (it will not break).

After you take it off, You will see 2 screws on the top of the radio, One on each side, remove them.
There are 2 more screws under the Cup Holder (one side of the E brake, remove the cup holder and you sill see them.
There are 2 other once almost at the back of the console, One on each side (you have to move both seats all the way to the front to see them.

Once they all 6 screws are off,,,, It will come off.

Good Luck.

I forgot to mention.

You can call to anywhere and from anywhere,

Just give them a call.

Call 1-800-mitsu2011

Have model and SN ready and they give it to you for free.

I locked my radio after messing with the codes. (Didnt know it would lock)
Now it says "off" and it wont let me punch in any numbers at all.
How am i supposed to "unlock it" if im not able to punch in numbers?

I am in a similar situation, I'm not sure if this will work for you but try holding the power button down for more than 5 seconds, then press one of the first four numbered buttons. My screen came to life and allowed me to input a code.

Although my main problem is I do not know or have a code, I'm not sure if the dealer will supply me one for free either.

Disconnect the battery again, doing so will let you make another attempt at inputing the correct security code.

If you need the code, call the dealer (parts dept.) and ask for it. Just be prepared to give them the serial number on the side of the stereo along with the VIN #, if you don't have it ready they may get pissed and decide not to give it to you unless you bring in the car.

If this is the case call EVERY Mitsu dealer in the U.S. until one of them provides you with the security code. LOL

I know what the code is....after trying to unplug the harness to the radio to see if that was gonna work I found it written on the radio. It's just that annoying "off" shit that's pissing me off.
I'll try anything before disconnecting the battery...it took me about 20 minutes to build enough courage to reconnect it last time I disconnected it. :(

I have a '98 GST i need the security code for my radio. Serial No: 7820A114
Part No: MR225577. Thanks in advance.

I knew somebody was gonna say that, but there are a few people who are on the forums that can get it for you. And I already tried getting it on my own, the 4 dealerships I called have parts & service closed to public for labor day.
