I have decided to go with an automatic tranny, however my question here is if there is anyone here using an automatic tranny or a modified auto tranny here for road racing?

How did it perform?

Im pretty interested in this as well. I'm looking for a clean 1g auto. I want to set up paddle shifters LOL. My brother does a little autox and road race with his Genisis Coupe auto and he loves the hell out of it. He is a former STI owner and DSM'r.

Well at the track a fella has a 97 tsi auto and he says when coming out of a turn he has problems climbing up the rpms. I think if he had a aftermarket TQCV and a better tranny he would bypass this problem. Other than that 5 Spd you can Clutch Brake and slingshot around turns.

^ you can do it but it's not always the best idea? Is that what you are saying?

Yea I'm kinda hoping to build something I could drag and roadrace reliably. I figured auto tranny would fit the bill. Just wanted to know if anyone has done road racing with success using an auto tranny. A buddy of mines is having great success in his srt8 at pocono and at englishtown raceway doing both drag and roadracing.

I rally the crap out of my 1g auto on a 7mile private dirt road with back to back runs and have had no issues. Lots of shifting up and down 1st thru 3rd gear.

I'm running a stock trans cooler/after market cooler combination.
Stock trans.
Stock converter.
Foreign Muscle DSM (Transmission Control Unit), EPROM Upgrade full line pressure with pre-set 7200rpm shift points.
John Deere HyGard fluid.

That is exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks bro. I plan on swapping out the harness in my car for an auto harness.

I am also running a aem ecu so I'm hoping it will all work especially when I get a tcu. Good stuff man thanks!
