Believe it or don't, but AutoMotorSport put one of the balance shafts BACK IN when they built my 2.3 stroker! It seems that they cut off the shaft, but leave the bearing and gear (or whatever), so as to reduce the load on the oil pump and drop the oil pressure from 120 psi back to normal settings. They also wanted to assess me a core charge for this, since my balance shafts are gone, but I bought two used ones for $10 each at a local race shop.
Anybody out there that does remove their balance shafts ought to be aware that yer oil pressure will shoot up (cuz the load is off). That's fine for drag racing, but 20 minutes of WOT on a road course at 120 psi blows oil filters (been there, done that twice). AMS recommends putting a clamp around the oil filter and tieing it off to a frame member to prevent the oil filter from loosening whilst road racing.

I spoke with Mitch this morning (Sat) and he plans on going into "over-drive mode" to get the engine ready for testing in February (not much time). Slowboy is helping out with the parts for the built (thank you Mike)! Forced Performance has come on board and will be supplying the turbo for this bad boy. PWR want's the cooling rights to this power plant so the radiator will be their's. There's a lot of work that has to be done and only a month to do it... but this is what racing is all about!

Yes, as I've already stated we're going to have to go with a FMIC. I'm looking at the PTE (long and slim) that I'll mount high in the front valence at a 35 degree angle. This won't obscure air through the radiator and will get a solid flow from the front splitter, pushing the air upwards. I'm drawing up the design and will post it soon...
