Alright everyone, this one's getting annoying. 1997 Eclipse GS, craz power door lock situation. Never had any problem with the lock system until I changed both driver & passenger side door handles MULTIPLE times throughout a week due to the door handles being bad/broken/messed up. Dealing with those situations, I am familiar with the inside of the doors quite well, and yet I have continued to open them up to try to piece this puzzle but I have seen nothing wrong or disconnected. I am beginning to believe that it is strictly electrical, but I'll leave that for you to decide. I'll try to explain the situation the best that I can:
1. When going to unlock the driver side door, I turn key right, the correct way to unlock it, and the mechanism turns slightly, but doesn't disengage the lock and it bends my key if I try to force it all the way right and still won't open the door.
2. After that failure, I go to the pass.side door to try to open it. When trying to unlock pass.side, I turn key left (the correct way to unlock door) and it disengages the lock fine with no excess force, but as SOON as I turn the key the opposite way to take it out of the door, the lock system engages and locks it back every time automatically! It's like a joke!... So the only way to open the pass.side door is while the key is turned left, disengaging the lock, while I pull the door handle open. And the door still locks back automatically when I take the key out, whether the door is open or not.
3. After playing Twister with my pass.side door to get inside, I go to press the "unlock" button on either door and it attempts to unlock the doors, but again like my pass.side door, it AUTOMATICALLY switches back to "locked" position after I press the button.
4. Seeing as the power lock buttons on either door won't unlock the doors, the only way to open my driver side door is to pull the interior door handle, which automatically disengages the driver side lock and opens the door, however it STILL locks back after I let go of the interior handle.
After dealing with all of that BS to get into my car, this problem is getting extremely annoying. If anyone has dealt with similar problems like these or knows anything about the power locking system, please let me know what could be wrong. Thanks in advance.
