I've been trying to troubleshoot this "issue" for a while now, searching the forums and the whole internet, and haven't been able to make much progress. I have power door locks, with the "factory option" Karr alarm which both worked fine the first few months I owned the car (late 2011). Suddenly my door locks wouldn't unlock via the remote anymore, and I later noticed occasionally they wouldn't unlock when I turn the car off. They always lock without any problems though regardless of method. Using the key, or the "flapper" switch inside always works, even if I use the passenger side switch/key, the driver side functions normally.

I don't know if the automatic locking/unlocking with the car on/off is part of the factory system, or part of the alarm, but seeing as how they lock 100% of the time without issue, would make it seem it's not an electrical issue.. But seeing as how they still unlock under certain conditions would make it seem like it's not a mechanical issue either.. WTF Really hoping someone has experienced a similar issue, or can shed some kind of light on this. TIA!

It sounds like one of the transistors(TR2) inside the door lock control unit may be bad, or possibly a bad coil in the door lock relay. At least that is what the FSM seems to suggest. From my knowledge of electronics, Transistors, diodes, and inductors(coils) are usually the first to fail when it comes to electronic components.

These are PDF screenshots of the circuit, TR1 is the top most transistor, and TR2 the lower of the two.

Well, 99% sure the control unit is to blame, at least one transistor is blown - first one tested bad so I didn't bother continuing testing. Off to the upgrade yard! I mean junkyard.. :sneaky:

Progress! Okay, figured out the control unit and relay are NOT to blame. I pulled the driver side dash apart to investigate wiring and found that the previous owner apparently used the old relay method to use the alarm with the turbo timer. ALL I did was move the wires around to inspect, and suddenly the doorlocks work normally again, BUT now my turbo timer DOESN'T and my radio resets every time I turn the car off.

Easiest way I can describe the hack job is that he cut the black/yellow IGN2 wire, ran it through the relay and hooked the starter kill wire to it. The ignition sense wire is still connected to the black/white IGN1 wire like normal. So it looks like he probably just relayed the wrong circuit.. I'm planning on just removing that relay entirely, connecting the starter kill like it SHOULD be, then switching the ignition sense to ACC. That should work, right?
