Hey guys I need to revive me 95 talon esi. I already have a 91 gs-t so this will not be about speed.

My car has a spun bearing but the car still runs. Also for some reason after driving for 15 min or so the car will just stop ?? It wont turn on until I wait for 10 or 15 min.

Right now I have been daily driving my gs-t and I hate it because it has no radio, no ps, and no ac.

Anyways I figure ill just completely remove my 420a engine. So I was thinking either getting it completely rebuilt or getting a rebuilt long blocks off of ebay.

My main question comes with the reliability of this setup. Im just wondering if this will be reliable at all? How will this engine last with the proper by the book maintenance. Again this is not for speed. Im probably going to put 19" rims on my car.

Why wouldnt it be reliable to get a rebuilt engine? You might want to try doing it yourself though as it will save you a ton of money and you will have the know how to do it again if you need or want. A complete engine rebuild(stock) can be bought for a few hundred dollars which includes all gaskets, pistons, oil pump, water pump, etc.

Other than the spun bearing, it sounds like you have another issue that getting a new engine wont solve. Ive had problems with a fuel pump relay that went bad and the car just randomly shut off. Could probably be any number of sensors that wont get fixed if you just buy a new engine.

Pistons, Rods, Full Gasket Set, Bearings, Rings, Machining Block-Head-Crank, (New Timing Belt!!!!) All that Cost me About $460 to do my self ;) if you know were to get the parts...I Love SA :D

Ebay long Blocks can go as $1700-$500 + Shipping, or less if your lucky and most likely the less ones are used and who knows what condition there in?

why do you hate your gst?

Doesn't anybody see a problem with these two sentences?

You drive around with a spun bearing :ohdamn:? Maybe the car is telling you something?

All that aside, the 420a platform is extremely reliable. Worth rebuilding IMO.

X2. haha I do believe the car IS telling you something. But on the other hand you may have another issue that needs to be resolved. But you should tackle what you know first.

As for reliability, I have not had many problems at all. If they are well kept up with and taken care of they will run forever.

Last week i picked up a non running 96 eclipse n/t 420a motor for 125 bucks. Has 243k Miles on the original motor. Only things that have been changed are regular maint items. T-belt, oil changed, yada yada.
