curious to see if the evo 8 INTAKE MANIFOLD will bolt up to my 6 bolt head. . .
:rocks:

No it would not, the runners are different in size, and correct me if i'm wrong but it wouldn't bolt up neither. I'd say just use a 1g as they are good-flowing IM's or get a evo3 IM if you can get your hands on one.

EvoIII will bolt up, but im pretty sure wont be advantage for a 1g guy. The ports are 2g head ports, so they would be smaller. Try a SMIM, or keep the 1g if you've got a 6bolt.

The EVO3 mani will fit the 2G ports and the cyclone will fit the 1G ports but are a pain in the ass. The EVO8 is facing the wrong way for a DSM. Might work if doing RWD sense ports are close to a 2G but not sure if it would bolt up. Over all not worth a try. Port your stock one or save up for a SMIM. To many people want to put "EVO" parts on there car. :toobad:

Good luck what ever it is you do.

Don't they also go in a different direction out of the intake? Like the 6 bolt goes toward the passenger side where as the Evo 8 goes toward the driver side?

Everyone has to remember that the complete evo motor for any year is 180 opposite of dsms and would be next to impossible to bolt up almost anything from it but the turbo and exhaust manifold and maybe one other thing.

And like stated above everyone wants to put evo parts on there cars thinking they are SOOOO much better when in reality they are barely better if not the same/worse off. If your going to switch something out your better off going aftermarket 97% of the time.

Good luck tell us what you decide.

Actually Evo I through III motors are oriented the same way as USDM 4G63's. It wasn't until the chassis change to the EVOIV did the motors do a 180. Why do you think EvoIII turbos bolt right up to 1G's? If it would fit I would have an EvoIX 16G (The best 16G EVAR!11!!)

And in all actuality ALL Evo parts are an upgrade to 1/2G parts. A) They are usually from a newer year car and have had more time to be developed/ more technology and B) the Evo is Mitsu's premier motorsport car and it only get's top level parts unlike the watered down USDM DSM's.

:ohdamn:

They are an upgrade if they work. If the evo intake manifold fits on the 1g head like the 2g intake manifold, then there will be huge boost leaks at the head runner mouths though the bolt pattern is the same. That's a significant downgrade :)

Um the evo IX meaning evo 9 doesn't have a 16g they used the 16g on evo's 1-8 and the evo 9 had the 18g and the evo X=10 has an even different turbo and motor the 4B11.

But I did more rescearch and found you were right about them not doing the change until the evo IV=4 body.

And the way I see it is evo parts are okay upgrades but finding them can be hard and they cost just as much as aftermarket better parts so why not go aftermarket?
