my 98 talon 420a engine has 8 bolts on the flywheel end of crank.
first generation is 6 and second generation 7. i cant find any info on a 8 bolt crank anywhere why?

420a is a domestic engine that has nothing to do with th 4g63. it could have 23 bolts on the flywheel.

The 420a guys don't refer to the "X-bolt" term. Do you have questions about the crank?

ok thanks i just cant find any info on this engine. I gave the car and a spare engine to my son and he has bought two turbos. he wants me to turbo one of these engines. is the 420a worth the time and money to turbo.

is the 420a worth the time and money to turbo.
this is a question that really can't be answered here, even though some have turbo'd 420A's and have done quite well - but had to completely modifiy the motor, ECU and electronics to do such since it wasn't designed for turbo usage. It's really up to the owner of the motor if he wants to do it or not.

But the 420A motor wasn't the strongest motor to come out of the Chrysler shack (being made in Mexico and designed for usage in the Neon. Mitz required the 420A to be installed in their cars -since the 4G37 was dropped- due to a requirement of sorts since they took over the DSM plant completely by this time.)-why this option was never accomplished out of the factory. Mitz kept the 4G63T for that reason of their vehicle manufacturing- knowing that the 420A was just your 'mom and pop' motor.

Good luck - DSM

Any clue on what turbos? What research has he done before buying those?
