I ordered the permatorque aswell. Going to be pulling the head off as soon as gasket gets here. I will be reusing the arps, but im going to take the head to the machine shop to make sure its still straight. I also going to be running straight e85 nowROFLROFL. This should be fun.

keltalon, are you still going to use the "regular" ARP's then?
Thanks for the link to the other thread.
Jeez he still doesn't say a word about the Felpro in that other thread. Makes it sound like it's the end of the world, no solution. No wonder you had to pm him!

Gary

yeah i used the standard arp torqued to 108 ft/lbs I just fired the car up cranking compression sounds very good. I only let it run for a slit-second considering i am still waiting on the radiator!!:coy:

So I got my permatorque in today. Im very impressed with the design. 5 layers and it looks at it is coated in some type of spray. I will be putting it on this week. What do you the keltalon?

I also was impressed with the design! I also notice the very sticky/tacky coating as well. The istallation instruction was very strict. " Don't remove the gasket from the bag until ready to install". I didn't take any chances I removed when I installed the gasket:thumb:LOL!

That's interesting, I wondered if there would be some kind of coating on it.
Wonder if that will make it tolerant of minor surface imperfections.

Glad keltalon didn't install it with the bag still on ROFL !

Bad news!!!! So i pulled the head, it was straight and replaced hg was pushing coolant in cylinder 3. The bad news is i decided to take the compressor cover off just to have a look see!!! Not good. Looks like the inner blades where rubbing all inside the compressor cover,:( The ett is not there looks more like a regualr wheel now. I would have just put the turbo back on cause it was still pulling hard. Im glad my curosity got the best of me. :rolleyes:Im glad its under waranty.:) I will be uppgrading to s258:thumb: now. I will be sending it out on tuesday back to bullseye. Im not sure why this happend. I poured oil into the turbo before i put the flange on and i had good oil pressure straight from the oilfilter housing. : The turbo does have some side to side shaftplay and up and down. :notgood:

Oh crumb. I don't remember, is this the one where they told you to run full pressure (no reducer) from the oil filter housing or did you have a reducer in there? I know this subject has come up a lot, but it seems like you can get different recommendations from different people. You've got Balance shafts removed, are your squirters also removed? IIRC Keith at Pure Tuning told me a long time ago to run the S256 with oil from the HEAD with NO reducer, WITH a small inline filter. I think in the 2gGSX thread and in the AWDer thread on the S256 there are several recommendations to run oil from the filter housing but WITH a reducer.

You guys are scaring me. Iv been reading bad reviews about these turbos lately. It is something I don't want. I would rather go with a 3052.

Matt sorry i have been out of town a few days just got back! Yes i installed the head gasket good news no coolant is being pushed. But i do have some bad news i was boosting 28psi the other day and all of a sudden boost drops to about 15 psi then to 13psi, I said WTF. To make a long story short after testing everything we determined the culprit to be the turbo. I also will be sending mine back tuesday:notgood: Dont get me wrong, I also pray that i got a bad turbo.

WTF is the deal!!!!!!!!!! This is not good. Im sorry to here this aswell. Let me know what they say and i will do the same. Mine was still holding boost but i did notice that i was boosting 26psi and it would drop to 24psi.n When i first installed the turbo it would hold solid im wondering if this was the culprit?

Dang, this is weird.
You know, since you guys both are going to be talking to bullseye about this it would be interesting if you could find out who assembles the bearing section of those turbos. I always assumed they were pure BW except for the turbine housing. Meaning that they would come completely assembled by BW, to Bullseye, where they would be put together with the turbine housing you ordered. But maybe the bearing section is assembled by Bullseye, they might even use some non-BW parts in there? You could probably find out since you are paying customers and I'm not - yet. You would have kind of a right to know who's "fault" it is. I'm just thinking it would be strange that BW would put out a batch of bad turbos.

Gary

Haha a bunch of BW turbos are going down! Atleast 4 guys are having the same results as you guys. Garret FTW?

I droped the turbo off at the shop I bought it at. Which is my friends he will be calling David at Bullseye first thing in the morning.
Ok so i just got off the phone with my buddie that owns protunningperformance.com I told him to ask if the turbo is all borg warner. What thrust bearings are in there? There is a vendor on here that sells these turbos think its gvautosports.com think his name is marty Ive seen him post up on some of the other threads. Im going to pm him and see if he has had any problems.

Marti is "prostreetdsmx1" and he is co-owner of VIP garage.
The GVautosport guys are "spendone" and "r10performance".

It could be that the bearing sections are "assembled by Bullseye from BW parts".
