General [Resolved] 2g ECU in a 1g

Is it possible to put a 2g turbo ecu in a 1g turbo or are the harness plugs totally different??

Why would you want to? It would be much easier to put a 1g turbo ecu into your car as they are both OBDI vs the 2g's OBDII.

because im doing the conversion and i have a buddy with a crashed 2g so i could pick it up for cheap im just curious if this would mess anything up

I don't think it would be that practical. The second generation cars have a lot more sensors that the ecu reads, and some of the sensors that are shared read differently between the generations. Also the whole on board diagnostics system may act screwy if you tried to do so. If you got the second generation wiring harness as well it would work, but it would be a pain to rewire your whole car. If you can pick it up cheap then do so and sell it to make some money for a 1991 ecu.

It can be done but the harness are different. It will be more expensive even with a free 2G ECU to get this working than it would be a buy a good 1G ECU.
