hey guys, i wanted to know what would be a good replacement turbo for my '97 GSX but the thing is i do not want to get a bigger one or to raise any power and if i were to change it out would i need a boost controller because i want the same settings as if it just came out of the factory. any ideas will help thanks :thumb:

Well any turbo you get will be bigger than the T25 :D ROFL ROFL

The t25 is just so small basically any turbo you get will be bigger. But since you DONT want to go much bigger you should go with a t28; its a direct bolt on. But if you want to go a lil bigger go with a evo3 16g, but that would require a 2g install kit.

Both the t28 and 16g are two great tubos, and are great upgrade over the t25.

Hopes this helps, Stay boostin

I'd recommend just buying another used T25. Otherwise I'd go for a t28 because of the stock fitment and look. The t28 is my personal choice for a 2g, and it'll hold your boost all the way to redline.

your stock boost controller will work fine.youll have a little more power with the t28 at the same boost since it pushes more air.

so i wouldn't need a boost controller? or would it be smart to have one?

I really don't understand why you don't want to invest in some basic mods like a mbc and a boost guage. You will have significant power improvements with those simple mods, especially if you're looking to change your turbo. Please explain your situation.

the reason i wanted to change it is because i wanted to replace the old one just for the reason that it is old. thats why i really dont want to upgrade really, and i am happy with the power i got now.

You can check to see if the turbo is going bad by removing the rubber intake pipe and trying to wiggle the shaft around/ in & out. If it moves very much its time for a replacement, if it feels firm and in place then it's just fine.

A boost controller is only needed when raising your boost level from stock.

Not to hijack but on the same Subject - 91 tsi AWD w/ no Cat & 2G Exhaust Mani - otherwise Stock Exhaust - Stock Injectors & Stock Fuel Pump - Stock Intercooler but that could change - What replacement Turbo would you reccommend?

It seams that you do not want to do a he!! of a lot of upgrades. This is understandable. I recommend the Small 16G. It is VERY efficient when running at its optimal airflow... Which is more than you stock injectors can deliver. I ran my Small 16G w/ stock injectors at 15 psi on pump and no injection for a long time. It was a blast. It was so much stronger than I antisipated... Eventually this turbo say 22 psi and didn't fall on it's face. One hell of a ride considering the intense, supercharger-like spool.
