Best turbo for my spec.

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

here are some pics of my head cylinder and car (crower spring and retainer, ferrea valve seal, crower SS valves, ferrea valve guides, port and polish work), waiting for wiseco and manley rods (I don't trust on eagle, so many failures here, even with hondas), clutch kit, I will try to post pics of my progress until I get the turbo discussed here.

Keep it coming man - Looks sick.

BW Warner S256 Internal and You'll love it. Great pump gas turbo to flow some air through that head. No problem hitting 400 on pump gas.

just a update from my build process.

fast delivery from extremepsi on internals took one week to get here in Panama:

is going to takea few days more, since my friend have to built one evo 6 JDM (-4 gear gone), 1 dsm (crank gone), evo 8 (tranfer gone), evo 3 (searching for burning oil failure), evo 8 (building stroker). hehehe.

Well guys I'm going to bring this thread back from the dead since I have my proyect out.

yes the CE9A GSR IS ALIVE!

at the end I get the Maperformance DSM kit wish include the PTE 6262 Billet, manifold, gaskets, wastegate, 1000cc injector and everything...

at the moment the psi is only 17 since I still didnt swap the ECU, the car have the ralli art ECU with 8k rpm cut and nice timing advance from JAPAN and the car feel like a beast, maybe because 1. the car is lightweight (2720 lbs) and the torque the engine is generating.

until I fix some pending things on the car, I will crank the boost a little up but of course taking all the monitoring in consideration.

I didn't read every post on page two but 2 things

1.) where the hell do you get 500 bucks for an external gate? Or is that the gate and the O2 housing? you can also order the hotside housing of some turbos with the wastegate mount on it and not have to buy manifolds or O2's (but must make sure there's room for it)

My other thing is this.. if you're trying to rev to 8K + RPM you're going to need a transmission built for at least another 1700 + shipping if you REBUILD yours in order to be able to shift at those RPM's without either being locked out of the gear or grinding the synchro's to dust... the stock mitsu trans really doesn't like to shift over 7k, 7500 RPM if you got good fluid, a nice working clutch and are lucky every shift in a race where you're trying to shift fast

I've revved my car out there and with a built trans it shifted fine, on the now stock AWD from the conversion, i'm lucky to shift above 7200 RPM if i want it to happen faster than in grandma style driving

I just started seeing a lot of mis-info tossed around and inflated numbers on both prices and turbo capabilities here.. not everyone can take a EIII16g and make 400hp with it, only a select few well designed builds are going to do that... for 1300 dollars you can buy a t3/t4 hybrid 50 trim, turbonetics cast mani with external gate provision + the external gate and have your whole package with a good basis to upgrade from should you choose and the 50 trim is proven to be able to get to or make more than your 400hp goal on pump gas with a good tune and maybe water injection you could get 450 on pump gas from it, still spool decent ot have a great stret powerband and something you can rebuild and get parts for should you need to...my last 57 trim lasted about 10 years of abuse and still put down 438hp with the blades about gone from errosion when i lost a filter in the winter and the bearings in it were still perfect after over 100k miles of use/abuse

if you look into "DSM specific" turbos you will burn through 1300 easily, if you look at a manifold and then the "universal turbos" that can fit it you can do wonders

regarding the tranny remember this is a evo tranny, have different gear set ratio and more stronger parts, also double synchro.

but I'm happy to shift at 7.5k no problem on that.

my friend with less similar setup made 420+ hp on pump gas, daily use and nice track car with 11 sec pass on single clutch.

remember these car is all about power/weight balance. (less stress on drive train overall) even the wheels are advan tc on 16" wish are lightweight even with the tire on.

if I made 450 whp with OEM cams, BELIEVE ME i will leave that setup like that. I love how good feels the car as it at the moment. and and the day I want to trow something like better clutch and VP, then I have room for that with the turbo and engine.

this kit was a package from Maperformance and they provide me all the inputs and recommendation for the correct purchase.

oops that's why i said i didn't read all the posts on page two, i just pointed out somethings from page one. My bad for not noticing you already bought a good package, congrats. Just please tell me you got that in steel ball bearing version on the turbo????

not I don't, I get the billet one, so far in years we haven't seeing any problem with theses journal turbo, is all about the proper oil feed lines installation and good oil.

from PTE 58xx to 6262 we all has been running pretty fine with some abuse without problem.

cool, up here in the states people have been hit or miss on the journal units by PTE.. I have a ball bearing PTE and it's great, but i can't speak for their journal units first hand. I do have a complete idiot friend who can't take care of a brick without breaking it, and his journal bearing PTE is in great shape but only has about 5-6k miles on it. Then the other day i found one of their newer journal bearing units i can get real cheap that the guy said was rebuilt twice and is broken again (was gonne buy and try and fix it with different brand thrust bearing)

but to be honest i haven't heard of anyone except one guy who has had any unusual bearing wear on the larger 6262, seem to be all the smaller units in JB that won't last

those biller wheels are beautiful though!! I got my turbo because my friend who had barely used it just had to get the billet wheel when it came out and sold me his on payment plan

Hello guys,

I need help for my turbo, my engine is down and I already sold my E316G with my ported 2g ex manifold....

My head cylinder have ferrea valves guides and seals, crower SS valves, crower spring/retainer. (am tryng to get 272 hks cams for a good price) and is ported. not valve job.

am just waiting to get my rods and turbo, am loyal to 2.0. everyhting is forged with arp everywhere, so am pretty "secure" on hard ware :D.

I just want a street/strip turbo, with the capibilties to hold at least 24 psi on pump until 8.5k rpm (thats my goal). I read tons of threads here regarding holset/FP green-red/ S256... and I cant find any specific threads with my setup.

I dont want external wastegate, i like the bolt on stuff, my budget is 1.3k$ for the turbo with the previous requierement.

any suggestion?

ps: sorry for my english, it's not my native lenguage.

In the 500+ hp range, if you're nixing the idea of an external wastegate, you're shooting yourself in the foot. It's an "integral" (LOL) portion of a well flowing turbine section, vital to make good power.
