Replacement part for Head exhaust stud

I found out today that I have a broken stud on exhaust side of my head.


It's the outermost left stud of the exhaust side.

I have read something about that outermost ones, are bigger than the rest, but it looks the same to me than the others.

As usual, I have the same issue that most of usa cars got in europe, MMC dealer has no access to american VIN parts in ASA.

He think my stud can be MD031537.

Is he correct?

If it is the same as the rest, it is 8mm x 1.25 x appox 45mm long.

It should be a common enough size for you to get one.

Its different if its at the lower corners, Should be a 14mm nut and I believe a 10mm stud.

^ Yes, the larger outer studs and nuts are 10mm x 1.25 for 7-bolts. However, the studs are all 8mm x 1.25 on the 6-bolt, which it sounds like the OP has.

I thought it was only the 2G heads who have the larger studs on the corners, not also 1G 7-bolt heads?

good to know.

My block is a 6 bolt, so that's why it sounded weird to me the bigger studd affaire.


will drill out that broken stud by the morning, and install the new one

Be sure to double-check the torque spec. The Chilton's manual has the wrong torque specified for at least the 2g. The below link contains all of the torque values for 1g & 2g.
