I'm in the middle of rebuilding my 1g engine and noticed one of my head stud holes is all f*!%-ed up... Is this a common thing anyone has come accross while rebuilding their blocks? I ordered up some 12mm x 1.25 x 36mm heli-coils and had to order a minimum of 100 pieces! If anyone has any better ways of fixing this messed up hole I would love to hear about it.

Also, if anyone needs some 12mm x 1.25 x 36mm heli-coils for their head stud holes, shoot me a pm!

Find a machine shop, That is the same size as a 12mm sparkplug. The tool I used had a cutter& threader rolled into one.

It took less than five min. for the whole job.:thumb:

I would definatly talk to a machinest about this one.

I have heard claims that helicoils are stronger than the origonal threads, I dont know that this is true. I have used alot of helicoils with good luck just not in a head stud hole.
