I'm gearing up to do a head gasket replacement for a 1996 GST (93,000miles) and will also replace timing belt and components. I have the following part list:

Head gasket kit (Fel Pro HS967PT3)
Timing belt kit (Gates TCK167A)
Water pump (Gates 42166)
Thermostat (Beck/Arnley 1430722)
Cam seals (Fel Pro TCS45483)
Head bolts

Are there other items that I should get replaced as well or any feedback on the parts listed? I've not sourced the head bolts but the general consensus seems to be ARP, what's a good place to get them?

Thanks for any help!

Extreme PSI is the best place to buy the head studs. Another thing you'll want to do is skip this, (Fel Pro TCS45483) and this, (Fel Pro HS967PT3) and just buy this: Felpro HS9627PT3 because not only is this a real part number, but it also includes the cam seals.

You should check out my recent threads on doing a head gasket change. Mine was on a 420a but the process is still the same.

Basically, you're going to need A LOT of parts in order to do a proper head gasket change. Remember you are separating the head from the block and there is a lot of stuff in the way to get there.

Here are some parts I used that most people don't even think about but need:

-coolant compatable sealant for your thermostat gasket
-proper sealant your your valve cover
-gaskets for taking off egr lines, fuel line
-razor and brake clean for cleaning your block
-copper coat for head gasket
-intake manifold gasket(s) because to get your head decked, you will need to take the intake mani. off
-accessory belts
-a tool to get your cam sprockets tightened back down
-valve cover gasket
-exhaust manifold gasket
-downpipe gasket
-assembly lube for putting cam shafts and lifters back into place (you have to take them out at least in the 420a to get to the head bolts)
-etc. etc.
