List of parts needed for turbo replacement

Im getting ready to replace my stock t25 with a garrett t28. Just wondering what all I need to buy to get it done. I plan to port my o2 housing while its off. Is there a complete gasket set I can buy that includes everything for coolant lines, oil lines, and manifolds? Do I need a special gasket set if the housing is ported? Will I need to remove the entire exhaust manifold,, requiring an ex manifold gasket too?

My t28 has no studs in it,, are all the studs seated in the manifold and o2 housings, and are they reusable?


My goal is to do this in a week end,, not having to keep the car tore apart while more parts are ordered in. Would like to have everything on hand and just do it.

Here is a full gasket set from Oreilly's.

Other than that you will need some coolant and maybe a bit of oil. If you port the O2 housing and the gaskets are too small, just port the gaskets as well. But I doubt you'll run into this issue since the gaskets are well oversized right out of the package. I would suggest gasket matching the ports only.

I also wouldn't take the manifold off, just drop the turbo and downpipe. And yes you can reuse the studs.

And gaskets is all you should need.

Manifold bolts are reusable as long as they don't snap.STM sell the manifold studs and new nuts for like 25$.You can get the nuts in stainless,They come copper otherwise.

Thanks to both of you! any idea off hand what size crush washers? Also, any other mods or upgrades worth doing while I am down there? Upgrade oil lines? Downpipe?

Well you can always port the o2, and add a turbo back exhaust..

Crush washer size.From Brian at STM=4 of the 14mm copper crush washers and 2x 12mm and 2x 10mm !

Thats what I just ordered thursday.So if the list is Wrong It's Brians fault.

I even found my copper crush washers at the local pepboys in multi packs. that might be cheaper. (autozone/advance auto, did not have them in single size multi packs).

I personally went NEW:
Turbo bolts (4, and remove the stud)
Turbo washers
Gaskets (no copper spray)

I reused factory oil/coolant lines and banjo bolts. New copper washers.

I would only replace lines if they are seriously bent or rusted or leaking. oem will suit the t28 just fine. SS braided lines may make installation easier and prettier if you really can splurge. If I had the money, I would do it just because. But be careful about kinking lines.

They have multi packs at the local auto parts store.But in some you only get one of each.So I said F it,1$ a peice and I know they will be right.Do it.

Or the local mechanic may have a bunch of these.They use them for breaks on motorcycles I think the guy said.I threw him a 5 for a bunch of them.He said 50 cents a peice, so I hope he likes the tip.
