Valve cover color doesn't really mean anything on a 4G63. Some JDM covers were red from the factory, but they still bolted down on the same cylinder heads.

To my knowledge there are basically 3 cylinder head castings that came stock on DSMs. The large port 6 bolt head (90-92.5), the large port early 7 bolt head (92.5-94) and the small port 2G 7 bolt head (95+). With that said, almost any head that fits a Sirius family Mitsu engine will bolt up to a block from the same engine family, and could potentially be made to work.

Some differences off the top of my head:
The early (89-90 build date) 6 bolt head had a factory installed oil pressure relief valve.
The 6 bolts used larger head fasteners (12mm vs 11mm).
Only the early 2G (95-96) head locates the Cam Angle Sensor on the intake cam timing sprocket instead of the trans side of the intake cam.
The 2G heads are more efficient out of the box, are good for low/mid power on a 2L, but flow less at full tilt.

Ok see that helps a little haha.. If you look at the end of the links it tells you "6 bolt" and "7 bolt"

Not to mention those "JDM" engines are about 95% the same parts you have already in your current motor. Don't waste your money.
